Hello, everyone. Just joined the LS family. I recently traded my gas guzzling dodge ram for an 04 goat. Only had to drive 4 hours one way to get it lol. Man, I love this thing! Phantom Black and red interior and M6. It's kinda slutty, but sexy haha. From what the guy told me, it has lowering kit, aftermarket suspension in the rear, fabbed up cai, tuned by some program and runs on 89 pump gas, and some other things, not a lot more, that I may be forgetting. But he said he was told afterwards it should be closer to 400hp (who knows), but I'm very pleased with the ride quality and overall sotp feel.

Don't put 89 octane in it.

All GTO's run on 91 octane.

Welcome!

unless it was tuned to be ran on 89 octane. which means the timing will be retarded a lil more than normal. if this is the case, i would be looking into a retune for 91 octane because there should be some power left on the table to be gained.

Agreed, but to be safe I would still run 91 in it until it was re tuned.

Well, if it's tuned for 89, would it hurt to run 91 in it without retuning it?

Doesn't hurt if you run more octane, less octane causes detonation though.

Congrats on the new GTO, you will love it. They are really fun cars.
Whats all this talk of 91 octane....? They have 93 out here and thats what i run! ( i know not all areas have that though)
I would get your car tuned for the best gas you can afford to run.
Enjoy!

def run 91/92/93 the highest premium gas you can get at the pump yeah it cost alittle more but it wont mess you car up. first i would talk to a tuner and see if he could look at the tune and maybe get a retune

Same here, there actually used to be a pump that offered 94 octane where i live but they did away with it.

Is it really worth it to run 89 octane and save between $1-2 if it could cost you thousands in the end?

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah, they sell 92 and 93 around here. I don't run it hard though. I'll eventually get it retuned and I'm sure it's definitely not 400 hp but it makes me happy to pretend . It's a blast to drive. Everyday since I've owned it, I keep telling myself "Wow, I have an awesome car" haha.
