Well looks like may battery has taken a crap. Wondering if theres any reccommended batteries. I know i had a optima in my mustang awhile back and it was a strong battery. Praying its not the alternator too

Yikes, run and hide from an Optima. Not the same battery any more. Mine would not hold a charge to save its life. Needed to be charged every 4 days. Exchanged it and had the identical problem. Get a good old Autozone or Duralast Gold.

hmm interesting. I did end up getting a duralast gold. i have a short in the electrical somewhere. my stereo plays even when the cars off. I did a search on ls1gto and found some things out about the bcm fuse and the bcm wiring harness. Im going to have to look at that further when i have time

I had that problem with the Optima red top I put in the Goat. Took it back and exchanged it for another new one and this one is fine. I drive the car around once a month and it always cranks with no problems. I think it's the luck of the draw with them though.

i have actually heard people say this before about optimas too. my thought was since most places local dont sell very many of them, the batteries sit on the self and go bad before they get sold

thx for all the input. new battery got taken care of last night. Now on to another problem. Driving the car today and it just completely died out on me with no warning whatsoever. Im thinking it may be the alternator. Hoping thats all it is. Reason i think it could be deeper than the alternator is because i have had problems with the radio playing while the car is off. I now turn the radio off but the display still is lit up. I was reading on ls1gto about someone having the same issue and it was the bcm fuse and harness. Hoping its just the alternator guess i will find out tommorrow

yes look at the sticky on the gto homepage. it shows you where the wire harness rubs and the problems caused when this happens. if your alternator is bad, you should have a battery light on on the dash

You will need to bend the terminals slightly but other then that it will fit perfectly. Read the specs carefully and note that it is: Made in the USA

Optima myself. Im on my 2nd one. It was replaced under warranty so no biggie. Alt went out too so I belive my problem was connected. All fine now. We do have a small drain on our cars if they sit for to long so every once inawhile i charge mine. In my drive to work and the loa di put on the car... ie
-the initial crank
-stereo 8" sub
-A/C
-8 mile drive
The Alternator doesnt have enough time to recoup what was lost.
Optima has a special way to charge and bring a "said dead battery" back to full working order. check there site. I believe they said 4 in 10 were fine after being recharged correctly.
