Default getting a cam but....

So I'm getting close to getting a cam for my 2004 5.7L GTO and I was lookn to get a 224/224 cam 114 LSA (unless sm1 in the state of IL. Has passed with a bigger cam or more lsa). Anways... I've been doing more research just to make sure I don't. Leave anything out... aisde from the standard parts needed (or for replace) is there anything else I *should* have b4 doing this swap such as -headers-?

I really REALLY wanna hear the cam lobing w.o having to listen very very closely.. so are headers needed to bring out the sound? Any input would be helpful. I would hate to drop a crap ton of money into a cam and come away with the same sound as my stock one.

p.s. this Is my DD || it has borla exhaust (no other mods)
Thx, Rob

My car came a with 224/224 114 lsa cam. I love he sound. its very streetable but doesnt take a close listen to hear it. It obviously doesnt have a race car lope but it doesnt sound stock either. I am running through a magnaflow exhaust with no headers (yet) so its not like I have real open exhaust to hear it.

Yes its in my Camaro I don't know my friends dotted on his Cam In his Gto but to me its the perfect cam full exhaust car. I know his is a 112 lsa. Pm me your number and I can send you a video

Well id like to go bigger if I can, I just don't know the limit for being able to pass IL. Emission laws unfortunatly for me most the info I found was for Cali which has the most strict... idk how IL. Compares... any thoughts?

Looks like no sniffer, so cam won't matter. I run a 238/242 .598/.614 on 114+4 and pass Texas emissions. As long as it's tuned and no cel's, should be good.

yes, headers are considered a supporting mod for a cam swap.

Yeah I kinda thought so, just dont have the money for Kooks or anything so I'll prob end up with OBX.
im pretty ignorant so how much of the headers do I need? I saw these and was hoping its all I needed
http://compare.ebay.com/like/2008072...Types&var=sbar
otherwise im spending over 500 bucks on headers and quite frankly id rather not lol

in general, the tighter the LSA, the more lope and less driveability.

Ok, let's back up here. Don't half-*** this. Get good longtubes before the cam. Alone, they will be a decent gain and your cam will make even more power when you get it.

im not trying to halfass this at all, I've just done my research and im comfortable going with OBX and not Kooks, I just dont know how much of the headers I need, like do I need the ones I showed in link or do I need LT OBX headers.

Also what kind of a stall upgrade am I gana need? I have an a4...
