Default 06 GTO 6.0 , Can I install my LS7 In it? What will be needed??

My brother has a mint 06 GTO for sale ,6.0 Litre, Auto trans, the price is right, since I have LMR building me a forged 440" for my 08 Z06, how hard would it be to install my H/C LS7( while out of the Vette, I'll have it forged) in this Goat?? I do not intend to register, want to just run it at the 1/4 mile. Or, am I better off just building the 6.0 motor? I either plan on a twin turbo, or, F1? ProCharger. I'm almost positive I'm going to buy, just need to figure out which motor to build?? The motor is a completely stock 40,000 mile 6.0 . Thanks, just a start to this build, I have dozens of questions!!

Don't take any of this as FACT...

I may or may not be correct on this, but I think the Ls7 has a 58x reluctor wheel in it so it won't work with the transmission that's in the GTO. I know you can put a 24x wheel in the Ls7, and I'd assume there's a way to change the trans to work with the Ls7 as is, but I can't make any guarantees. There's definitely a way to make this work. There's probably multiple ways, but you'll have to wait to hear back from somebody who knows exactly and which of the ways is easiest.

You'll need to do something about the reluctor wheel. GTOs are 24x (though there are some rumors of some rare 06 models having 58x, so verify what you have). You will also need to upgrade the fuel system. You will need to put the GTO oil pan on the LS7 motor and run it as a wet sump with an adapter for the crank snout.

I checked my May 2006 production sensor a few years ago and my car is a 24x. It would be in the last month if they did.

Lingenfelter sells a plug-in 24x to 58x converter box so you don't have to worry about that. http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...gory_Code=C163
The only other thing I think is different are the knock sensor bolt holes, but you car tap them. The crankshaft snout will need to be machined too.

Yeah - I thought they were all 24x but there are some people that swear that they've worked on a 58x 2006 GTO. I've never seen one, but they may exist. Like Big Foot.

There was never a 58X reluctor in any GTO... That's an internet myth.
