Default New wheels, what tires??

Guys,

Just picked up a set of wheels. Measurements are below:

Front 18 x 8 42mm offset
Rear 18 x 9.5 48mm offset

I have pedders zero drop drag springs on the rear only and the fenders have been rolled a good amount already. I am looking to run a 245/40/18 on front and a 275/35/18 on the rear. Id love to go 285 on the rear but have read horror stories about rubbing and really don't wanna chance it. This is my summer car so it sees mainly dry pavement but I do get stuck in the occasional rainstorm so wet traction is also a must. Im putting down close to 500rwhp so traction is a LARGE concern of mine.

What tires do I go with??? So many damn choices out there. Ive searched and seen nitto and MT drag radials are pretty common. Also looked at hankook ventus V12 because they are so affordable. Any real world experience between these different manufacturers and brands?? If I go nitto or MT which series should I get? Of course money is always a factor as well. Any input would be much appreciated!!

For summer tires BFG KDW or bridgestone RE760 sport are both good options for the money. If you want to spend a little more michelin pilot sport ss. My camaro made right at 500 whp, drag radials are only way to REALLY have traction, but you sacrifice wet traction, I've used both bfg gforce drag radial, and mt et street radial, both would put it down from a roll

I'd go 275s. There really isn't much of a difference between 285s and 275s contact patch. You can save and get a better tire in 275. Nitto NT555s have been great for me, fitment and performance.

I really enjoyed the RE760s and I think they have a new model out. I would vote for the Star Specs, though. Great wet traction and they hook like drag radials except with a stiffer sidewall which is great for carving the mountains.

+1 for star specs.

Had the hankook ventus v12s and would never go back. The star specs provide way way more grip. Hankooks with no mods created a smoke show in 1st and 50ft of 2nd gear marks. Star specs same 1800 rpm launch with mods in sig a little hop, second gear as hard as I want and no spin...just freight trains.

They are summer high performance though so keep that in mind. Right now I have to make sure I move mine at least once a month to avoid flat spots. They also don't provide much traction under 45 degrees. Other than that I love them. Look for a road and track article... They did a compare a while back and these came out second next to the pilots at $100 less a tire.

I run the Nitto NT05 now and tried some NT01s before. The NT05 is a good tire with somewhat of a balance between traction and wear. NT01s wear in 5k
