I read some horror stories and replaced mine before I had any issues with them.
The aftermarket ones are nice, but pricey.
What went wrong with your stock half shaft that failed?

the end that broke was where it connected to the center section. my car wouldnt move. that really sucked.

aftermarket ones arent cheap but OE ones are a ******* rip and they suck.

this is who my shop uses for axle upgrades.

I am lucky after 130k miles and some racing, nothing broke yet. But I should buy level 2 or 3 shafts.

Nope, nothing broken.
I will get some upgraded ones, though, to prevent wheelhop.

Get out of it when it starts to wheel hop.

I have 100k on mine, 150 passes launching on slicks or a DR, and no issues.

Still using factory 2001 half shafts without any problems, good enough for low 11 second passes

Can't believe this question was even asked... Do some research and you'll find that this is SUPER common. But as Greg said, "Get out of it when it starts to wheel hop" and you won't have any issues. Common misconception is that traction kills the half-shafts. Not true. Violtently wheel-hopping does.

mine didnt hop. i punched it from a slow roll and it broke. it was making some noise going in reverse and i felt some looseness during moderate takeoffs but nothing indicating they were on their way out.

all is well. for now.
