Looking To Get Into A 2006 GTO
I am not new to the LSx scene, but have been out since I sold my 2002 Trans Am in 7/2012. My mods are in my sig. I sold my TA with 50k miles on it. Never once saw rain or snow. It basically lived its life in the garage. I thought I was going to have that car for forever, but a divorce made me sell it.
So now I've been looking for specifically a 2006 GTO. Colors I am looking at are Cyclone Gray Metallic, Impulse Blue Metallic or Torrid Red. Definitely want a black interior. I've never sat in a GTO, I know the interior build quality is far superior to my TA. And plus I had no idea the GTO had heated seats lol... I will miss having t-tops, but man something lately has been driving me towards GTOs
What are some things to look out for when buying?
What is the biggest wheel/tire combo that can be used; 245/45/17?
Anything else that would be beneficial to me would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You
So, out with the old, and in with the new.........

I have really enjoyed mine it currently has 105,000 miles and is still a bolt-on car for now. Things i have had to address so far is, headliner, driveshaft, rear spring sag, rr bushings, front top strut bushings, water pump and radiator - plastic sides cracked. Overall love the car and planning a new clutch and cam soon. I like the fact that there isn't a ton of them driving around as well. You shouldbe able to fit a 275 nitto tire without modifying anything.

I picked one of these up in march black on black though, went from a truck to this.
Definitely go find one to drive, the interior is a big step above the TA if it wasnt for the factory radio i would say it feels much newer than an 8 year old car.
As others have mentioned suspension sag is an issue to keep an eye out for.

Without cutting or rolling, 255/35/18 is probably the biggest you can get. With the right combo, you can get 285 wide tires in the rear if you cut or roll the fenders.
Like others said, the weakest point is the suspension. I upgraded nearly every single component and it feels amazing.

Don't know if you're still interested or not or bought a GTO yet but before I sold my 2006 GTO I put 255/40's on the factory 18" wheels and they fit perfectly! They were a hell of a whole lot better than the shitty and hideous fugly factory 235/40's and fit perfectly without ANY cutting or rolling of the fenders/quarters! Loved the look and extra meat of the tires, but had to sell shortly after. Baby was on the way and needed a family car! Hope that helps man, loved your thread on the GMMG exhaust and I'm finally starting to get it all together to install! Used your thread to get it going too! So thank you buddy!
