Hey svede...

I was doing some reading on gtoforum.com and saw you made a post saying you aren't a big fan of the volant intake. I have also heard the same thing. With that said... what do you suggest? (anyone else feel free to give your opinion as well) I was looking at the AEM Brute Force Intake... what are your thoughts on that one? Thanks for the help!

The volant, IMO, is no better than a k&N or the AEM BF, or any other elbowed intake. And IMO, none of those intakes are really that much better than the stock box.

I just don't put much stock in those hot air kits. You might see 2-3hp out of them, maybe 5 if you're lucky.

Most of the GTO community has taken the f-body/corvette route and gone OTR.

The stock box pulls air from the hood gap anyway, it just channels it along to the drivers side where the intake is. So even the pontiac engineers knew the best air was on the nose of the car.

So svede's OTR, or a Du-Speed, are the "best" air intake kits you can get for the late model GTO's. In my opinion.

I believe it has also been tested and proven to consistently show the coolest IAT temps as well. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain on that.

I think a guy named Brett sells an "Aw-Speed" knock off of svedes design. You can get Svedes actual design through WCS, but the lead time through them is excessive.

I'd follow his thread on ls1gto and just fab your own up from fiberglass. I know I would like too.

West Coast Speed is out of business so don't buy anything from that website.

Good old "Awespeed" has taken a page out of WCS's playbook. He took a bunch of money and orders back in November and has failed to deliver so far. Maybe the IRS has gotten on to his shadow business. Eventually they will.

I saw a bunch of posts on the Facebook groups about this, absolutely ridiculous. It's a shame the GTO community has to deal with scumbags like this.

I was lucky enough to get my WCS Svede within a few months of ordering, but knowing what I know now I wish I had just gone with a DuSpeed. At least they're an honest business and will actually communicate and fulfill orders in a reasonable amount of time.

DuSpeed is the best on the market. It's pricey but worth it for me

There is also a VCM Performance OTR from Australia made for the monaro's that is available to purchase. Some one on ls2gto ordered one and received it quickly. Looks like a solid unit.

From a cursory look at it the VCM looks good. The filter is larger than the almighty DuSpeed. A lot of the Aussies take the filter out to drag. I sold my Super Svede a few years ago and might look at making another one for myself. That filter I used was easily two times the size of the Du. In testing I found the smaller filters work OK but need cleaning frequently to keep the same flow as new. With my 6.3 L stroker I'm going to want that flow.
