After turning a lifter in November of 2013, and the subsequent rabbit hole rebuild, I was able to wake Pearl up last night. She was a bit grumpy...


I have been lurking here for a few years. I have been learning more than I could contribute, but I think this build will provide some results folks will be interested in.

Nice, sounds like a beast. Been saving up to get a ZR1, but I may end up doing something along these lines. As much as I want a Vette, I really don't know if I can get rid of the GTO. I'm really close to scrapping the ZR1 plan and putting the money into the GTO. Congrats on getting your car back together and for doing it right.

It took me awhile to finally decide on the direction I wanted to go. If it was not for the friends that have made in the GTO community it would not have been possible for me to take the build to this level. That is also part of what would have made it very difficult to get rid of the GTO and go another direction. I don't think I would have been able to get near this level of performance with out dropping some serious coin. There is something about the raw driving experience of these cars that does something for me.

I took a long hard look at a stock cube FI set up, but decided to go with the big cube N/A set up. I have seen a few folks go down the FI rabbit hole and just did not enjoy their cars as much. I knew that I wanted to have something that was going to make me step up my game behind the wheel. This set up will definately accomplish that. If I ever get bored with this set up, it is gapped for up to a 200 shot on the current set up. This short block will also take anything I can throw at it up to 1500 hp if I do ever decide to go down the FI rabbit hole in the future. That was one of the reasons I went with the 6 bolt set up, and spent the extra money the forged and billet parts in the bottom of the motor. I also could have gotten a few more cubes out it. I can go out to 4.2" bore on these sleeves, but I would rather have the ability to clean the cylinders up a few times down the road if I need to. The drive line and rear suspension will be my next focus, but for now I am excited to get back behind the wheel. Should be able to start the street tuning in a day or two.

What's all the specs to the motor now? Car sounds nasty!

Nice build. For me, nothing come close to pure N/A power with flat torque curve.

I did my part of research about FI vs NA/N2O setups. I know alot of guys that choose the FI way and nothing but headache when it comes to enjoying the car. (I'm not talking about ETs). I mean the part throttle response, durability of N/A setups, and the forgiveness about daily looking of under the hood and going under the car to troubleshoot the boost leaks.

My plan to run low 10s N/A and high 9s N/A through M6. I think that is very achievable.

I'm waiting ERL to finish my LS2 447ci :D
