Default Longtubes options

First off yes I know the Kooks or ARH are king and most say go that route.

That being said I'm not sure I want to spend that kind of coin since this will be a nice cruiser not an wring out the maximum power I can type of build.

The car in question is an 05 LS2 M6. Has 6X,XXX on the body but the Engine and trans were replaced about 3k miles ago under warranty.

I also have had a EPS 234/246 111lsa cam laying around for my Camaro that is no longer going into the car and I've read a decent amount of people putting in the BTR IV ( which is similar in specs) in their GTO with nice results so I might use that or I may just sell that and get a custom cam Spec'd up + supporting mods.

Eventually I'll either port the stock heads or sell those and get TFS 220s touched up by Tooley.

Anyways back to the main topic...

I tried searching but most people are either running Kooks, ARH or Pacesetters it seems.

I've been looking at the OBX and TSP LTs as they are a nice middle ground and are stainless.

Anyone have any experience with either? Would you recommend one over the other? Thanks for the input

I went 1-3/4" but since you have an LS2 with heads in the future then 1-7/8". I think LS2 H/C/I folks are better equipped to respond.

Just remember, OBX and Texas Speed made in China. Out of the cheap ones, at least Pacesetter is made in the USA.

interesting points, I do typically try to support American made things but sometimes it just doesn't make sense from a monetary standpoint. I'm thinking if I do go high end it'd be the signature series Longtubes.

I'm just trying to make this car a little more enjoyable while I slowly build my Fbody which will be my fast car.

i know you said kooks, blah blah blah lol but they are honestly the king
of fit / finish / quality. you can call maryland speed, they give crazy
deals over the phone, just be ready to purchase when you call.

Has anyone dyno'd the different brand headers to see how they perform?

I'll say pacesetters on my trans am ws6 was seat of the pants improvement with no tune!

I'd rather go Chinese than buy kooks. To be honest, you can get handmade headers for about 1500 if you know where to go. In the end, depending on what features you want, US made is the way to go. I hear that there is some India made headers for just a few hundred bucks, but you can't really find any solid answers on them.

I run Kooks on the GTO and OBX on the truck. I'll be honest and say that the OBX headers are nice, but there are definite differences that make or may not be of a concern to you.

-Much, much shorter collector length
-No merge spike
-No ball joint connection
-At least on my truck headers, the collector stepped down to 2.5"

Now, those may or may not be a concern for you. The OBX headers fit my truck perfectly, have good welds, and thick flanges. I cannot attest to how the GTO versions fit. If you are shopping based on price, then they are hard to beat.

However, you can also look at the JBA long tubes. They are 409 stainless vs 304, so they will develop surface rust, but won't rust through. They are a little more expensive, but do have a much longer merge collector than OBX, and are made in Mexico instead of China.
