Finally installing my cam, but a few ?'s
Finally have the free time to get my cam install done, bought new lifters, trays, oil pump, and the rest of the essentials.
Now my question is, I have Texas speed long tube headers, will I be able to in bolt these from the head and let them just rest or will I need to remove the steering shaft?
All input welcome, just figured 90k miles would be too much for stock lifters and a 238/243 .610 .600 cam. Correct?

Anyone have a preferred way of priming the oil system? I'm going to assemble the pump on the crank for ease of o-ring alignment and to make sure the gears are aligned to prevent excess wear. So pouring oil in the pump seems to be out of the question.

I usually squirt some assembly lube into the oil port and move the gears around to get a nice coating before install, but you can also install the pump, remove the pump cover, and coat the gears. You just want to get a nice coating on the gears so they create a suction to draw the oil from the pan when priming the system. A dry oil pump won't always draw the oil.

Bryn1990-Congrats on being a DAD! I live in Roanoke too, if need help just let me know. My son and I just finished heads/cam install on his G8 with all of the other items. My son turned the key and it fired up with no ticking whatsoever.
