Default Help needed getting CARB Legal

Hello all. I had purchased my GTO while I was still in North Carolina. It has a vararam OTR air intake. I have recently moved back to California and am trying to get the vehicle CARB legal for my smog testing. I found a "complete" stock air intake kit on ebay and decided to snag it.

This is a picture of everything that was included. I, not being car savvy at all, decided to go have a mechanic do the install. He claimed that the flex hose was 6 inches short or so from the air box. Did the ebay vendor screw me? Does something appear to be missing to convert from vararam to stock? Any help would be appreciated.

The MAF tube goes in there. Is it still on the vararam?

This is what I was thinking to begin with when I was looking at diagrams. It is just mind boggling to me that the mechanic wouldn't have thought to remove the old MAF tube. Thanks for the response. I'll probably end up swapping the intake myself here shortly.
