2004 GTO exhaust question...
In the process of putting back together a 2004 roller that I bought and had a question.
Car has an iron block 5.3 with usual bolt on stuff and a Texas speed 228 cam. Has long tube headers and no cats. I have a pair of 3" spin techs I picked up slightly used and car came with pretty new 3" straight pipes from about the Tranny cross member back.
question is.... could I run the mufflers about a foot back from the longtubes at a 45 ...then into an x pipe or h pipe.... then straight from there? Only reason I ask....is the mufflers already have 45s out each end. I would literally have to just cut the angle right.. add a bit of pipe to both ends and put an xpipe after or make an x pipe.
anyone have real world experience with setting it up this way? Would there be any ill effects?
I have a couple pics of what I'm kinda talking about.. In like this...
Then out like this....into an X or ill fab up . Balance tube.
