Default Need help with 2004 Pontiac GTO

Hello, I'm new to this and trying to spread around for more help with my uncle's 2004 Pontiac GTO, has LS1 engine and 4L60E transmission, recently have problems with tranny, 1st and 2nd works fine, 3rd gear stopped working, after two days replacing every solenoids, 3rd gear tries to engage almost seems to work but not sure if it's slipping or trying to switch gears. Hes about to give up and wants to ask an expert who has experience with those GTO's before dumping more money into it. Also curious to see if anyone's done this and tried the 3/4 clutch kit and if it's fixed it.

By the time you factor in the labor of R&R on an auto trans, you should never put one back in without a full rebuild. Just taking your chances on one clutch kit would be monumentally short sighted. While it is out, if funds allow, you should also upgrade to 4l65 specs, with the 5 pinion planetary and beast sunshell.
