Are non working interior lights/dome lights a common issue in gto's?

Since I bought my 04 gto I've never been able to get my interior lights to turn on. Dome lights and door lights are the ones that aren't working. Dash and ac controls work fine.My glove box light does work when open, and so do my dun vizor lights. When I open a door the interior lights don't come on. When I manually override the lights with the switch on the dome light nothing happens.

One day I took the dome light down and used my power probe and provided 12v to one of the leads on the dome and it lit up, so i know the bulbs aren't bad. So far I see there isnt power present on the dome at all everything has ground. Interior illumination fuse works as well as the interior illumination relay which also controls the headlights. Im lost at this point and don't know where to look next.
It doesn't seem like a short because fuses are all good

Im wondering if this is a common issue with our cars or if it was something the previous owner did.
Hoping to get out of the dark, let me know what y'all think it could be.
Thanks

is there anything aftermarket on the interior? Its possible they cut have decided to use the wire to the dome light to power something else?

The only thing aftermarket in the interior is a touch screen radio. That radio has been acting up since I bought the car too, my stations reset themselves constantly and sometimes they stay saved for a few days.

I would check the wiring on the radio make sure nothing is grounding out.

Theres a known wire grounding problem with the BCM do a search on it.

Also, it sounds like a fuse is blown. Check ALL the fuses. your likely overlooking.

I checked ALL of my fuses with a power probe, same continuity on both ends of all fuses, even tested all of the relays in that fuse box, ALL are good. I just need to find where the power goes after the relay. perhaps the lighting circuit is tied in like christmas lights and if one point is broken, everything else goes...

Im gonna do a search on the bcm next thanks.

You cannot Check continuity on a fuse with it still in the fuse box. If it rests at ground on both sides of the fuse it will show good. You much pull each one or visually look at each one from the side. This is coming from a 10+ year 12v specialist.

Could be the dash switch too. Look of the wiring diagram and see if you can jump it. If you can do that with this switch.

Thanks, ill have to try that in the morning. btw, i found some body control module connector diagrams and i see that it controls a lot of things including my interior lighting. i was wondering if i unplug any connectors will it loose any programing? I don't want to have to send it out to re-program.

crap. I just remembered there is a problem with the bcm harness getting grounded by a bracket behind the glove box.

Yeah I know about the common bcm issue where it rubs against metal. I looked under there, not too hard though and didint see anything out of the ordinary. I’m gonna check again today a little more to make sure no wires are grinding.

The BCM will stay programmed without power.
Keep in mind that a lot of these cars had electrical gremlins and many owners replaced parts themselves...that being said, if a BCM was replaced and not programmed to your VIN you will have other issues.
I would first look at the door switch and wiring and then the dash switch.

what do you mean by dash switch? Is there an override for the lighting other than the dome light switches? I’ll take a look at my door switches for sure but id like to mention that when i shut the car off and open any door my headlights turn off normally which makes me think that the door switches themselves are good. I’ll have to check out the wiring for sure though.

Switch/Relay in fuse panel under steering wheel. Also try tapping on the switch at the dome light itself to see if it is stuck. I have had the roof liner out and the wiring for the switch runs up inside the drivers side A pillar cover.
