Default 04 M6 GTO Build list/Advice

JEGS performance parts
  • LS1,Ls2,Ls6 Intake manifold 555-513050
  • 102 mm TB 555-14526
  • SLP LM exhaust
  • catless mids
  • pacesetter long tube headers (Armor coated)
Other Sources
  • BTR stage 3 cam
  • 799 heads
  • supporting mods- lifters, valve springs, oil pump, fuel pump, fuel injectors, gasket kit, timing chain, fuel pressure regulator, push rods,
I have done a lot of research on this build over the past few months and I have learned the the stock MAF is good up to 450-500whp so I am going to keep that stock, as well as the clutch (until it gives out after the second pull). I have heard that I can be looking at up to 430whp on a good day, but it seems 410 will be more realistic. Also, are there any reputable tune shops near Dayton, Ohio? I have seen some of the shops near me produce pretty low numbers and bad customer service. I just want the best for my car! thanks. thoughts, and similar build results will be encouraging.

Looks solid. I think you're missing a high flow air intake, something like the XAIR would be nice.

Are you talking about before the intake manifold? Like what people usually get and actually think its effective without a tune? Lmao. I've thought about it, but honestly I think the stock intake will be alright. I know a lot of people that keep it stock until they throw on a pro-charger and they are forced to change.

I thought those 555-513050 metal manifolds were only worth it for FI? Is that the future or is it to save money over a FAST?

Just saving money over fast, either way the flow is higher and close enough to the fast intake that its worth it for half the price. Just needed something with heads to wake up the cam

I saw online that MSD also has an intake, and it may flow better than a FAST.

You're better off keeping your factory manifold or doing the dorman LS2. You need to look up the dyno tests on manifolds. The sheet metal intake loses alot of low and midrange power and only makes more power at high rpm....which you are in low and midrage much more during a pull than you are at peak. Plus I was looking at getting one and numerous people told me not to because of port fitment and sealing issues. Your choice tho.

Btw, that intake isnt going to "wake up the cam".

There is a YouTube channel named Josh's car corner that recently installed the MSD and had some fitment issues with it. Worth looking at the video and channel. Cool guy. I guess very few GTO owners had put those particular intakes on. However it is designed for the ls2 fuel rail so if your a ls1 car you'll have to swap that also.

I've heard of a ported ls6 intake, would that be a better alternative? Im really looking for a larger throttle body because with the mechanical TB's you get a quicker response, so throwing in a 92 or 102mm will make it more responsive.

You can get a used FAST for $400-500. Better off just doing that.

I know the Fast is the go to manifold on here but if it was available to me (I'm in Australia so it's not), I would get the TPIS ls6 manifold with bigger TB for my car, which is the Aussie equivalent of your car (2004 5.7 Monaro). Just my preference though.

Not necessarily.

On the manifold, just go with the FAST and be done with it. I fooled around with stock, stock ported, etc. None compared to the FAST once I finally put one on. No fitment problems. I even port matched it myself. Should have done it a LOT sooner.

Also, the stock clutch can't even hand stock power, do yourself a favor and put in a better clutch now during your build to save having to change it after you get the build done.

If I go with a FAST 102 intake, will I need to upgrade fuel rails or anything along with it? (other than the throttle body of course)

If you have an LS1, yes, you will need aftermarket or LS2 style fuel rails. LS2 fuel rails are a direct fit on a FAST 102.

Does every fuel regulator need a return line? And what FP regulator should I get?
