New Photos - 2004 GTO
I took a TON of photos tonight at the Houston Auto Show just for our members. Then I spent about 3 hours resizing them and putting them on a nice page for everyone. I took pictures of all kinds of details on the new GTO, so you could get a better idea on the level of detail the car has in person.
Enjoy!

Re: New Photos - 2004 GTO
Very nice quality pictures
I really think that car has a chance of looking good with some decent wheels. I think they are what's killing the look. To me, wheels either make or break a car, and those are just plain breaking it at this point. It would have been nice if GM had put a little more effort into the wheel choice, but, I guess that just give the aftermarket something to do, eh?
Any list of what interior/exterior colors will be offered on the car yet?

The wheels aren't as fugly as the 01+ Camaro (Chrysler?) wheels
The representative told me that it will be offered in 7 colors.
orange/red metallic (shown)
bright red
silver
black
blue
yellow
green
Not sure on if those are dark or light, or metallic. Three different colors of leather are currently being decided on, but not sure which colors besides this red. That was the only info he had. He also mentioned that the wheels may not be the actual production design or size (18s on this one). Everything else is pretty much shown as it will be, including the slotted disk rotors and lowered looking ride height. The car also has the MM12 6-speed, which is more aggressively geared than the T56. This is the same tranny found in the Z06 Vette.

According to that plaque at the show those wheels are just for the show car, maybe the production car will get 17s instead? And if so hopefully a better looking wheel as well.
I like the car a lot, I just it performs well.
Thanks for the pics Tony.

Re: New Photos - 2004 GTO
Tony,
How big or small is that thing?
From where I am sitting the body contour of that car resembles a pre 99 mustang.
After looking at all the pictures I can't help but wonder how Holden markets the Monaro. Is it a straight-up muscle car or maybe something in the M3/M5 arena. The placard (Pontiac) kinda went both ways.
Can't wait to see one in person.

Re: New Photos - 2004 GTO
What strikes me first about the GTO is how it is already lowered... no 4x4 gap like our stock f-bodys
I hope more car manufactures start following what BMW and AUDI and now GM is doing and do it to their "sport car" divisions.
I personally like the new GTO, and definately feel it is GM's answer to the M3s and S4s out there

Thanks for the pics Tony!
I don't care too much for the body. I mean this is not a good replacement for the f-body but I think Pontiac (GM) should have offered this car a long time ago.
I do like the interior. Gauges look sweet as well as the race pedals and seats.
I didn't know it has an independent rear end. Very nice! I don't like the exhaust coming together after the mufflers. Looks like they had room there to keep it dual exhaust.
Is it transaxle? On that plaque it says the weight of the car has a 50%/50% balance. It looks like it but I can't tell.
The slotted rotors are nice.
The exhaust manifolds look pretty good for stock. I can't see the collector and they look to be a good size already.
But as far as the rest of the engine compartment goes it looks real tight in there. I don't like the airbox off to the side thing.
Does anybody know the price for one? It has some nice features so I'm sure the price tag will be steep.
Peace,
Craig.

Re: New Photos - 2004 GTO
I was waiting for a picture of you trying to steal the engine covers. I bet you can pry the GTO letters off and have it say MTI, or something along those lines.
That thing looks VERY nice. I hope it does come with 17's, 18's are too expensive as fast as i go thru tires.

Re: New Photos - 2004 GTO
Damn, if it gets the M12 6spd from the Z06, I could find myself wanting another 6spd. . .
That'd be the coolest setup going. Strap on DR's, and you shouldn't have trouble getting 1.7's or 1.8's in the first 60ft.
Nice pics, Tony.

Very nice pics Tony!
I say some 17 x 11's out back and dual outlets on the exhaust and they got a sale here!

Re: New Photos - 2004 GTO
Crager, the price will be in the $30-35K range. It has a TON of standard options and comes fully loaded. Standard leather, Blaupunkt system with CD-changer, side door airbags, etc.. Its a much nicer quality car than our F-bodies for sure.
Engine compartment looks tight, but that is just because of those huge GTO covers. There is actually more room under the hood than our F-bodies because half of the engine isn't up under the dash like our cars.
Having a trunk will be nice. I miss my Mustang's trunk. Our hatches on the F-body are pretty useless.

Re: New Photos - 2004 GTO
I was disappointed with the GTO because they didn't bring it to the St. Louis Auto Show this weekend(went to Chicago ). The one change it really needs is a dual exhaust. The European two on one side thing is not worthy to be on a car named GTO. Just my opinion, other than that .

The more I look at it, the more I like it better than my TA. Not quite, but almost. You can tell it's a more solid, better quality car. Hopefully the doors "thump" closed instead of "bang" like the f-bods. The GTO I will have at the end of the year will look good parked next to my baby. Single life has it's advantages

Re: New Photos - 2004 GTO
I just got back from the autoshow... I'm a bit biased but the cars I fell in LOVE with were the GTO, H2, and the Trailblazer SS. Oh not to mention the Brabus line up of Mercedes....Lttery required for the Brabus option.
I really love the GTO though!
