Default TR224 112 LSA installed (VID)

OK guys, got the cam installed Friday with some help from N8G on ls1gto.com. Took about 9 hours but everything came out just fine. Below is the video of the first time I turned the key. Still running on the stock tune.

Short video (1.5 MB) 36 sec

I think its awesome, just what I wanted!

Here's a longer video that includes the first one plus some outside time and a quick drive.
12 MB 3.58mins (it'll take some time to download)

I picked up 5 mph and 4 tenths at the track over my bone stock LS1 cam with that same exact 224/224 112 LSA cam..

My car is a 2.73 A4..

You have an mn6 and 3.4x gearing but your about 400 pounds heavier..

So you should pick up around 5 mph at the track as well.

HAVE FUN

Springs = comp 918's
Retainers = stock
Pushrods = TR custom 7.4's
Pulley = stock

So I guess the answer is yes and no

well my main concern was the springs!!!!! not knockin on ya, you just didn't mention it and the rest is just gravy.... but I can tell ya, that even with the lope of my cam (Speed Inc's SI3 224/224/ 581/581 114LSA).. with the SLP UD pulley, the motor is a ton smoother. might be something to look into here in the future...

Radkon, awesome set-up. I was thinking about buying the same cam package as you through Thunder. Is the Comp 918's, and Pushrods all they recommend for spinning it to 6k? Or do you plan on spinning it higher?

GotzaGTO, what valvetrain set-up do you have with your cam and what do you spin yours to? I live across from Andrew High School in Tinley Park. I don't think I have seen your car, but from the pics it looks very tough.

Thanks Guys

This cam makes most of its power in daily driving range 1700 to 6600 RPM. I'm not a fan of spinning it up past 6500 RPM one reason I've got my shift light set at 6250

I have the stock rockers, comp cams 918 springs, comp cams titanium retainers and comp cams chrome molly push rods. I plan on spinning her to 7000 RPM, but we'll see what the guys at Speed who are tuning my car have to say about that. My cam is good for 7000 RPM though..

are you on fbodyowners.com? we have a lot of local meets durring the summer. I'm sure I'll see you around here sometime.

take it easy,
Steve

Radkon,
I want to be there for your first track pass! We'll both hit 12's (hopefully for me). I'm itching to do a cam on the SS now!!!

Your car was running SUPER rich when I was following you. My eyes actually started to water. It sounds amazing as you were pulling away!

I want it back.

J/K. Sounds pretty damn good. I bet it was a piece of cake to install too. Ah, oh well. I'm just letting all the GTO's catch up one at a time.
