05 GTO's available without Hood Scoops?

Hey. I'm buying a used 05 GTO from the local Pontiac Dealership. It's not on their lot they're doing a dealerswap. The only picture I've seen of it shows it without hoodscoops. I thought all 05 GTO's had them?? Am I mistaken or is the picture wrong?

I ran the VIN through Carfax and it is an 05.
Thanks.

i want to say when i was in the market for one before they were released, it was an option to have the scoops deleted as well as the spoiler.

but i might be wrong.

i believe you can delete the scoops if you choose to if you order one im almost 100 percent positive they did that in 05 you could order it with just the slick hood no scoops.its possible thats why the car your looking at has no scoops if there telling you its an 05 hope that helps ;)

Yeah they're saying its an 05 and the VIN checks out. I'll have to wait to see it thanks :)

The 05 model did come with the hood scoop delete as an option...there was no spoiler delete option. There were 11069 2005 GT0s produced of that only 24 were built with the hood scoop delete option. Because of this the hood scoop delete option was itself deleted as an option for 2006.

Yes, their was a scoop delete option. Very very VERY few were made with that option however.

Hmmmm so if mine does have it it will be rare. But probably not in a good way LOL.

It's rare in that sense, but options rarely have anything to do with the long term value of a car. Except when it comes to engine options or special edition vehicles.

Well the dealer called me back. The picture I saw was an 04. Mine does have the hood scoops :)

Cool. The flat hood just doesn't say "GTO" like the one with scoops does. :)

Yeah I prefer the scoops but I don't mind the flat "sleeper" look :)

Firehawk0220 02-14-2006 10:12 PM

Even with the scoops no one seems to notice the GTO much anyway.

Agreed. I had the '05 hood in the garage, ready to go to paint (I have an '04), and then decided to sell it. I like the smooth, clean lines of the stock '04 hood. Now, the dual exhausts... That will be my next body upgrade (still have to put on the '05 brakes, and the head/cam).
