gas mileage on GTO (LS1)..
I might be in the market for a 04 A4 GTO sometime soon, but am really interested in what kind of mileage they get,
can ya'll post some #'s for me?? city and highway, what are they rated at and what do they actually give?? only plans for it now would be a tune, other than that it will stay as is for a while...

I averaged 13mpg stock on the 100% street driving (3 mile commute each way, heavy traffic, stop and go). Mixed driving I would get 18-19. On the highway I would get 22-23. This is with a A4 2004 GTO. A tune would probably help thoes numbers, but that all depends on the weight of your right foot The 04 GTO's can also be tuned to have lean cruise... I hit 26mpg on a vegas trip with it enabled and not completly tuned in.

Stock 04 A4, average about 15.5-16.5 in mixed city/hw (4mile stretch on the hw) now only mod is a K+N drop in and it has increased to 17.5-18.1 average. I get on it maybe 2 times in the total round trip from work.
Austin Texas heat (august had about 24 out of 31 days over 100 this year)

16-18 city and 21-22 highway 04 A4
my friends stock 04 M6 got about the same city but 25-26mph highway.
That double overdrive 6th gear makes a big difference..

Good Gas Mileage--for 3750 lbs & 350 hp
To those talking about getting 30-33 mph hwy, c'mon guys, who are you kidding! Do you have GM's cylinder cutoff system as an option? I have a 2004 M6, and at best, averaging about 75-78 mph on the freeway in 6th gear with smooth traffic, I've seen maybe 26 or 27. And on the open highway, who can drive 75? Even the notoriously inaccurate EPA numbers were 17 city/29 hwy. In town, driving an easy 4 mile commute at maybe 25-30, I get around 13 mph. If you are concerned about gas mileage, forget about the GTO. Weighing 3750 pounds with a 350 hp engine, it barely beats out SUV's in MPG. Even the best engine management systems can't deny the laws of physics.

Oh and btw, after the headers, cam and tune my GTO was making around 400hp to the wheels and got 30+ mpg on the hwy at around 70-75 mph in 6th. It was feat comparable to travelling at light speed. Stephen Hawking even got up and walked when I told him about it.
