Nitrous is probably the best bang for the buck mod out there, but unless you know how to install it and tune the car yourself you should get a professional dyno tune to make sure everything lasts. A good nitrous setup will run you around $800 with all the safety equipment, then comes labor and tuning.

I would say get a CAI like volant or K&N and a hand held tuner like the preditor. Your car will breath better and with the tuner you can eliminate the trq mang, set your shift points, etc.

If nothing else, go register at LS1GTO.com and cruise through there parts for sale section. you may find these things for real cheap and some better recomendations for upgrades as well.

$280 for the Volant intake and I didn't feel any gains.
The biggest gain I had was from long tube headers.

Best bang for the buck which is a little bit more than 600$ would be with no doubt a stall for your A4.

check into some free mods.....weight reduction
remove towing brace, located rear of car under plastic cover, you will need a couple zip ties
the gas tank brace can be removed and replaced with a piece of mdf
not going out of town? remove your spare tire and jack
the skid plate under the engine can be removed but some dont like running without it, bmr, slp and others make lighter weight ones

If it were me and I had an automatic gto I would get a tune to get rid of the torque management. Then I would get drag radials.

I love my nitrous,

but I wouldnt trust a kit that's under $600
I'm a big fan of the safety gear

look in the classifieds for a set of used LT's
or just get a tune...

I agree, the torque management made my car a turd! I couldn't even do a burnout.

Now I'm doing 12.7s all day with headers, intake, tune

I have the exact same car. Purchased a predator 2 days ago, mostly removed
torque management and its a completely different vehicle. For $600 bucks predator
first and then save a little for tires/drag bags. I was shocked of how removing
tm changed the vehicle. I think the 06's have the worst factory tune plus the
added button on the brake lever that prevents you from doing power braking
with the brake pressed down. After installing, no more problems what so ever.

Stall and tune. Sometimes you can find Predators on ebay and such for under $200. Or just get some n2o, but you need a tune as well.
