Default 4.5K to Spend

I recently received a bonus from my job. And i now have 4,500$ to spend on my 2004 yellow GTO.It is currently completely stock.
If someone could be generous enough to spend some time and price out some modifications for my GTO.

I do not want Nitrous.

I would like a new hood, wheels, exhaust and a cam so if any one could price out some of these and show me a product and a price I would be very happy.

Is your car an auto or 6 speed? If it is an auto then you should do a torque converter before the cam

If you are installing yourself that will save you a lot on the cam and the headers.
Most prices are estimates that are a little high.
Cam:
Cam-400
Springs-400
Pushrods-140
Misc........gaskets, tools....etc.-200 ( spring tool, lifter tool, and other)
Oil Pump and timing chain?? Depends on how old your car is.

total- If you install yourself it would be close to 1400.

Headers-1300(ARH with cats)

I wold go ahead and get some ARH or Kooks

Exhaust- depends on what you want to spend
Borla and Corsa are around 1000 bucks

You will need a good tune after the cam and the headers-650

You could skip the cam and headers and put a hood, wheels and the exhaust on it

Give us a little more info. Auto? Are you the installer for all of this?

It is a 2004 automatic transmission (Ididn't have a choice) GTO with 30k miles. I bought it about a year ago from a police repo auction for 14 k with 20,000 miles. It is is good condition it is only driven hard at the track. It is completely stock.

The more I think about it the less i want to spend money on the appearance. I will not be installing any thing my self except the exhaust because my friend and I can do that our selves.

So basically I would like to put the 4.5k into adding HP.
Ho much is a twin turbo, I am pretty sure it is out of my price range.

TT is out of your price range..

Do Converter, Exhaust, and if you can swing it gears...

There is a LS1 A4 GTO that just went 11.9 with Kooks LT and a 3200 converter so unless your looking for the sound of a bump stick do those first

How much HP do you think I would gain from that?

lol enough to get into trouble Here is thread with an '04 procharged GTO putting down 452rwhp probably on a dynojet. With supporting mods intake, headers, catback, cam you would be over 500rwhp.

i would get these for wheels 900
http://www.wheelmax.com/wheelFitTocar.asp

and for eng. 2800
http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=205&catid=47

as for supporting mods (lt/exh/p&p tb/intake) is all going to be preference on you....for example everyone hates on pacesetter headers when they put out just as much power as the rest of them....samething with the intake....... so if you get the above it will leave you some wiggle room on the rest....and not only will it look good it will hall *** too..

dont forget intake manifold underdrive pulley

ahh hell here ya go
ported tb----50bucks from most sponsers
underdrive pulley---199 for powerbond
hardcore intake---100
headers/mids----500 pacesetter
borla exh-----870

so if you skip the wheels and get the h/c package with the list of the mods above that should put right at 4,470.00 or 4200(with one of the cheaper exh....flowmaster....slplm2)

or just get the sts turbo from these guys 4200 bucks for the kit

Yeah I took that link out. But that 350rwhp was on a mustang dyno and from what everyone says you can add 12-15% more for a dynojet dyno.

On a $4500 budget, any form of forced induction is out. Even a DIY build would be pushing that once all the necessary supporting mods were done. Heads/cam/intake/headers/stall converter will probably go over budget if you don't self-install.

I agree... cam\stall\exhaust\UDP\CAI

Cam package:700
Stall: 700 (dont be cheap here)
P&P TB: 100
Trans Cooler: 50
Exhaust: 650 (its stainless steel)
UDP: 199
Install: 1500-2000
Tune: 500 (might be a little high)

Now you might want to look or call around.. because there are deals on cam installs from 1399-1550 I have seen lately. That will save a ton off the labor bill which means more towards as cast ls1 stage 2 heads for $1000.

Wheels & Tires- $1600-2000
Cam Package- $1200ish (cam, Comp 921 spring kit & Comp pushrods)
Pacesetter LT's w/mids coated- $550-600
EDGE Converter- $600
Shift Kit- $120???
Dyno Tune- $350-450

Of course this is if you can install it yourself, if not then the install will take up your wheel and tire money. I wouldn't buy a catback, just have someone weld in a x-pipe and some mufflers, shouldn't cost too much.

Matt, where do you live? If it's local I can point you in the direction of a killer shop that specializes in GMs. As far as what I would spend it on if I were you and mine was in bone stock form, I would tackle all of my goat's weak points. Those would be suspension, traction, shifter, factory tune and then go from there with some longtube headers, intake, some mufflers and an x or h pipe you're looking at about $4.5k. Broken down as follows (all prices are including installation)...
-stage 1 suspension (bushing swap ~ $750-1k)
-good tires (assuming you don't already have some decent rubber ~ $750)
-short throw shifter ~$500
-good dyno tune ~$600
-Pacesetter LTs ~$600
-mufflers and an x-pipe ~$500
-lingenfelter or volant intake ~$400

Total~$4,350

I highly suggest going with the following as that hits all of the major areas of needed improvement. If you don't stiffen up the suspension and throw some added traction to the mix, more power isn't going to mean ****. If you want more info on that stuff just say the word. I just don't wanna get into it if you're not interested.

I agree with the car only makes 350ish rwhp is too low. But 450rwhp off an ls1 isn't bad. If this my car I would START with some kind of FI then over time start adding heads, cam, etc, etc, etc.
