Thumbs down Trunk

What the hell is the big box thing taking up all the trunk room?

Also, has anyone had any problems with the 05's I need to look out for? I just picked up a Black M6 last night.

The big thing taking up the trunk is a combination of the fuel tank and the Us gov. mandated cage around the tank. They don't want any ls-1's exploding like an old pinto if they crash, now do they?

that cage is HEAVY as hell and is only there to prevent objects in your trunk from pucturing the gast tank.

its really not that heavy, but I HIGHLY DOUBT that it is there to prevent objects in the trunk from puncturing the tank. have you ever taken the carpet off of it, there are gaps in the cage the size of basket *****, dont think its going to stop anything other then the careeming car comming at your *** end!!!!!

and why would you buy this car for the trunk anyways?

I'm sure that GM designed it this way to avoid liability issues. It probably wasn't their first intent...

The gas tank was originally underneath the trunk on the Monaros sold in Australia. US safety standards required it to be moved before the car could be imported to the States.
