Default Who,s on 265/275 rear tires?

How many people here have a 10 inch rim out back and run 265/275. I want to get driftR 18s and can,t decide between the package with 265or275?

It'll be tough to fit 275 tires and 10" wide wheels under the rear of the GTO. I have 9" rear wheels and 275-40-17 Mickey Thompson tires with Pedder springs and I had to grind the fender lip a little.

Eh, it was not fun.

First thing is first, I already had Pedders 5/16" drag springs. I had already cut the fenders down to the spot welds... that was not doing it so I cut them all the way off. One side rubbed, so I had to have the cradles aligned. Even after all of that the tires are just too tall and bottomed out, so there had to be quite a bit of beating to the inside fenderwells. All in all, they fit.

This is the only draw back with these cars. Lack of tire room.

I have 9.5" rims with BFG Drag Radials 275, my fenders are cut but more to the offset issues on my 18" aftermarket rims.

If you have the correct offset you should just have to roll them.

Anybody got pics or a how-to on "rolling/cutting" your fenders. I don't have any idea what you're talking about.

are u talking about the tire bubbling out a little?

its just fine since i wont be doing too much drifting in these.

i've seen worst with guys doing like 305s or something on an 8.5'' wide rim

Running a tire that wide on a 8" rim is asking for problems. I run a 275 on a 9.5 and would not even consider going to a 295 or 315. There is a reason manufacturers give specific ranges for rim width and tire selection.

275/35-18 on 18x9" +52mm offset. Outer lip trimmed to spot welds, some massaging of wheel well on inboard side. Lowered 1/2".

275 on an 8inch rim is fine but borderline IMHO

i understand that the sidewall is being stretched and this tire prolly wont hold up too much for lateral spirited driving but i dont do that at all.

I run 275 kuhmo's on one set of stock 17's, and 275 MT's on another set of stock 17's. No issues. But I did roll my fenders, put on drag bags and king drag springs.

I have the old 19x9 Drift R's in back. Used to run the 275 Toyo's but now run 265 KDW's. No rubbing with either. Quarter not cut or rolled. The BFG 265's are wider than the Toyo's also.

Somewhere along the line, I swapped in King Springs/Koni/Drag Bags. Now there is no chance at all of the tire touching. It might have been close with the BFG's and stock springs/shocks but I think it would have cleared just like the Toyo's.
