Default Gto making me mad

somebody please tell me why my 04 A4 is so damn inconsistent???

stock the can ran(in this order) 14.4 14.2 14.1 13.9 cutting 2.0's on street tires

car with full exhaust ran 13.6 13.8 13.9 13.9

tonight with all mods in sig plus tune from TTP and nitto 555R car went in this order 13.4,13.5,13.7,13.9,13.9 and with the nitto's i couldnt do better than a 2.1 60

traction control wass off during all races and launching car in 3rd all the way down....tire pressure in DR's was played with anywhere from 18-28 psi all resulting in 2.1 60 foots
13.4 was at 106 mph the other runs were from 100-103....whats going on???

your 60 is slower with mods? try some drag bags. it sounds like your having trouble getting all that power to the ground, how is the wheel hop when you take off.

How long are you letting the car cool down in between runs?

It's typical to have the first run be the best and each run after be a little slower due to heat soak, especially if you aren't cooling down between passes. The Nittos really need to get hot. Do a big smokey burnout and heat those suckers up.

no offense taking i do the same thing basically every pass so same thing shouldnt result in 13.4 one pass than 3 passes later 13.9.... it didnt feel like wheel hop felt more like spinning ill try the drag bags next TTP took torque management off so maybe i do need some bags? also the last two runs of 13.9 were with about an hour of cool down time due to spills on the track....any of you guys with A4 what rpm do you usually launch from?

hold the brake down and just touch the gas enough to get the rear end to sit down ever so slightly. I mean barely touch the gas. (you maybe at like 1000 or 1200 RPM) Then when it's time to go, let off the brake and with a smooth yet quick movement press your foot on the gas. You can practice on an empty road, it honestly shouldn't take you too long. Now you could just buy some drag bags and a stall and rip off 60 foot times lower then 2.0

+1 on heating the Nittos. At your power levels they are more than enough and just need to be heated well. If you are not smoking then they are not sticky enough. If you want a stickier tire but dont want to go to the MT Drag then look at BFG Drag. You will get better miles out of them on the street then MT and they are stickier at the track then Nittos.

I'm going to agree with a couple of points here. Drag bags, and cool down. I have noticed a BIG difference in how my car runs at the track based on the amount of time it is allowed to cool down between runs. I also allow mine to cool at least half hour with the hood open. With an Auto, you should be pretty consistant, but temperature, track conditions, heat soak, and traction all play a large part in that.
I was pulling 2.1 60's stock with stock tires and a 6spd. I have the Nitto 555's now and I am hoping to do a little better...
