Agreed. The flip side is "as a home defense pistol, would you trust the HiPoint to work every time/any time you need it to?" That I can't speak for but as a piece of mind and protect the family, a higher quality gun is the answer.

I carry the babby glock. G26. every once in a while i'll do the G22 but it feels like i have a brick on me. i typically keep my ruger LCP in the car too because it's quick and easy to put on me and run into a gas station quickly. the crossbreed holster that i have for my glocks is comfortable and i love it...but it is a PITA to put on sometimes.

Well, I've got it narrowed down between the Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec, Springfield 1911 Range Officer, or the Springfield 1911 Loaded. Whatever one I get, I want it in stainless. Guess I'll start shopping around. Would like to find a used one for around the $800.00 mark.

I don't know if you know this but Springfield has a promo now that gets you a free range bag, two magazines, and a double mag pouch for em ($135 value) good through Dec. 31st. Also Bass Pro Shops has a rebate of $75 and if you get their credit card another 10% off, so roughly $150 off. I just looked at the Mil-spec today BPS has the blued Mil-Spec for $740! https://www.springfieldpromo.com/Gearup.asp

Most folks that carry a 1911 do it because they want to feel like a movie star or a badass. I'll keep my Glock with twice the capacity and half the weight. FWIW I currently own and have owned several 1911's in single stack and double stack, full size, and compact. If I had to carry a 1911 it would be a full size double stack Para in .40, best shooting 1911 I have ever owned. For the guys that can't afford a high end or even moderately priced gun, look for police trades to come up at Buds. They have all passed a dependability test as most officers are required to shoot a ton of rounds. The feel of a good broken in, worn handgun is hard to beat. Stay away from something that's priced at 150-299 new to save a few bucks.....after all your life is worth the extra few bucks.

That's a heavy gun to carry around. I prefer my glock 27 (.40) for everyday carry. With that being said, I own a Springfield loaded and absolutely love it. Great gun and fun to shoot, not fun to carry if your trying to conceal it.

In post #47, OP clearly said he was looking for a bigger pistol to have in case he wants to carry something with more capacity...as well as to have to just shoot around with.

Lol so I guess no one in the world can carry a 1911 just because they shoot them well and feel comfortable carrying one? So full of **** lol. I guess everyone that carries a Glock is doing it to feel like some badass wannabe cop? Great logic and generalization there.

Just finished my CCL class and application. Be using a Springfield xd . 40 sub compact to carry. Put a pinkie extension on it for more comfort.

I guess I need to clarify. I have a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm that I'll carry. The 1911 is not going to be for carry; just a fun gun to have to shoot on the weekends. If I want something that's going to have higher capacity for carrying, I'll sell the Smith and Wesson and look for something like that Lugar that carries 19.

I put 100 rounds through my Shield 9mm this weekend. I am no expert by any means but I really enjoy shooting it and I did pretty well. I also ordered a Raw Dog holster last Friday. I'll let you know what I think of it when it comes in.
