Congrats. I just had my inspection done on the new house. Ready to move to closing.

Lol nice, I am closing first week of May as well. Going from no garage to a 4 car garage will be great for me, now I just have to fill it up.

Belt driven is the way to go.

Looks sweet, plus no neighbors from what I can see!

That's a really great looking house, looks custom built. Reminds me of Thomas Jefferson's house, Monticello.

Thanks, it was custom built. I do have neighbors on the sides but it's on an acre and it backs up to a big park.

I will probably be joining you guys in a few months. Getting sick of renting around here, the rent is just getting to be too damn high. Going to start looking for a place to buy once I get a bit more saved for a down payment.

I can't blame you for waiting to save a bit! I got put on a shorter time table if I wanted to get a relo/house buying bonus from work otherwise I probably would have waited a little longer. But hey $20 is $20.

Thanks! This one was a little smaller than I wanted so I had to order a shed to compensate. Floors are being coated next week, then I'm going to run some extra electrical and paint. Pics to come of that.

House looks nice. I really like the wide cement driveway.

Attached garages are both good and bad; good because it benefits some from interior heating/cooling/insulation so temp shifts aren't as drastic or rapid, but bad because any desired expansion is very difficult. A basic 2-car unit wouldn't cut it for me at this point, just not enough room. I'd have to be able to build an additional garage somewhere on the land (apparently not possible in this case.) The shed option at least gives you a little more breathing room.

one of the houses in my subdivision (me and my dad are currently renting my sisters old house till we can qualify for the mortgage) added a third bay to the existing 2 car garage, looks a little out of place tho since they tied it into the main gable instead of the garage gable. but yeah a 2 car is pretty useless, by the time we moved all the tools and other stuff in it's all I can do to get my bird to fit in there.

Agreed, unfortunately with my budget of $150k all of the houses I looked at with bigger garages came with houses that needed a ton of work. I'm happy I'll at least have a nice shed to keep all of my lawn equipment, and really anything I don't use on a regular basis out of the garage. I'm also a single guy with no room mates so it isn't a big deal that my bicycles will be in either the living room or the bedroom I'm making an office and that helps

Thanks! haha I'm happy that I at least own some of it as opposed to an apartment. And I'm saving $20/month on rent after taxes insurance, etc..

Congrats on the new house. The only thing I don't like about it is the short driveway. Besides that, very nice!

Finally got both cars moved over this past weekend. I can start painting the garage this weekend hopefully. My uncle is going to help me run 2 extra outlets at some point, likely a couple of 220v.

It's a far cry from my "garage spot" in Pacific Beach, it's actually only about 21' wide though so not a ton of room per say.

But at least you can enjoy your car all year round sometimes I'm not sure why I moved to the midwest lol
