I'd recommend a tire that gives you feedback. I'm running NT05's and they give me lots of audible warnings when i'm at the limit. I think the best mod so far is seat time. followed up by a good spring, shock and strut package. ( i started out autoXing with Strange adj all the way around and soft drag springs. NOT a good setup.)
I just put a set of Kuhmo XS 285's on my 17x9.5 rims. I really like them so far. But if you havn't been tracking you car first, tires are a waste. alighnment, shocks, springs, bars, diff. need to be done first. In that order.
x2 id run what you have. Its better to learn on street tires IMHO then move to the slicks once your ready, you learn more car control on street tires.
