Default Will these tires last 2 days of HPDE at sebring?

There's an HPDE coming up in late june that I want to try to make, but having to spend $$ on tires as well will be difficult. Tires are 315 555r's for the rear. Front tires are fine.

Sebring will kill those tires by the end of day 1. Im not even sure tech would let you drive on those. They look done.

As a general guideline they should have somewhere around 50% of the tread left for a weekend event. Those are to the wear bars and would probably be toast after a day. It's better since they're rears but I still wouldn't risk it.

I'll be there on June 23rd & 24th running time trials with NASA. Is that the weekend you're talking about?

Yep. Having to spend another $500 on rear tires might put me over my budget. Fronts are NT01's that only have one gainesville trackday on them.

17's. Only other option is to go on my street tires which are some all season coopers. Not sure how that would work out considering their sidewalls are soft as hell and the tread blocks leave a lot to be desired.

What tire is that?

EDIT 555 RII?

You can buy a whole set of NT05's for $650 shipped.

315/35/17 555r. Fronts are NT01's. My spare set of wheels is 17x9.5 for the fronts 17x11 for the rears.

Your running a drag radial for HPDE use?

My track wheels are all 17x9.5 so I can rotate and buy cheaper tires.

BTW, you might be surprised at how well street tires do, I did my first few events on cheapo Maxxis MA-V1's.

I hope you can make it out. Sebring is so much more fun than PBIR it's not even funny.

Probably going to end up doing it on my street tires. Not sure if I'm going to do the whole weekend of the 1 session thing. Too bad the nitto's always wear out in the center or they would still be good.

Just coming out on your street tires is a very good thing. If you can't swing the entire weekend then try and do a full day instead of the one session option. The one session deal puts you out in the very first session of the day when it can be painfully slow as everyone is getting up to speed.

They don't have 1 day options for HPDE 1 which i'm guessing is what they would put me in since I haven't done a track day in a few years. Hopefully they bump me up to 2 by the 2nd day though. Any advice on baseline settings for my konis? I know sebring is supposed to be pretty bumpy.

There are one day options. I did that with NASA a while back. Been a while for me too.

Not seeing it here.

https://www.nasaproracing.com/event/1465

And 555r's are fine on the track, they don't have soft sidewalls like other drag radials. Hell they had no signs of sidewall rollover on the rear unlike the nt-01's on the front.

Oh weird, I'm not seeing single day HPDE1 either. Did they stop doing it?

Good info on the drag radials, didn't know that.
