Default Have aftermarket seats and are above 6'1 Please come inside

Im 6'2" and I am at a loss here. I have had aftermarket seats for a while but nothing that fits me with any head room to speak of. I had 6LE seats that I made fixed position which was very annoying. No one else could drive my car. Even when I got it tuned the tuner had to put something behind him just to be able to reach the pedals.

I got tired of the fixed position and the 6LE seats so I sold them and decided to get some corbeaus thinking it would be better because theyre a well known brand of seat. WRONG! With corbeaus bracket and slider my head literally touches the ttop without a helmet on so its even worse.

What kind of seats and/or setups do you tall people have? I currently have brand new corbeau forzas that Im most likely going to have to get rid of because even making a custom fixed bracket is only going to get me an inch maybe an inch and a half max which isnt going to be enough.

Please someone help. I just want to be able to enjoy driving my car and be somewhat comfortable. I dont race it anymore, if I do anything it will be the occaisonal autocross. Other than that its a weekend driver that I want to enjoy as such.

I'm about 6'1 running Forzas and their dual locking slider...no issues here with hitting the headliner in my car without a helmet.

I can't measure anything since my Forza sleeps in the basement until next autocross season. If it was in my car I would measure how much room I had between my head and the headliner for you to compare. For all I know my helmet just grazes the headliner, but I haven't noticed it.

I have heard others with this issue but don't know why they have it too.

I did not do anything special to the seat or bracket either.

Maybe run stock seats with a 4pt harness?

Yea, I was lucky enough to have a guy local that had the Forzas in a Camaro let me sit in it before I bought mine.

I took a 3 hour trip to sit in some outside of a car. Little did I know they sat too high inside the car

Why did you make them fixed position? With the brackets we make they sit lower than stock and slide WAY further back than stock... SPECIFICALLY for you tall guys lol.

believe it or not I was still too tall. If I sat straight up I would see about half headliner and I wasnt able to put the steering wheel at the position I would have liked it to be. Dont worry, its not you its me LOL

It just confuses me because I know theres guys much bigger than me that have these cars. I dont get why I have such a problem.

I've got the Jegs racong seats and I'm 6'2" and they are fine for me. They sit lower than my stock seats did, so getting in and out is a little harder, but not a big deal for me. Comfort wise they are fine.

I'm 5'11" but...

I did have to trim the legs on the dual-locking Corbeau seat sliders for my car to allow more headspace for the other driver (6' long torso). I managed to get about 1.5" inches additional space by cutting and bolting the legs. I'll post pics if anyone is interested.

Damn, that sucks. Well, if you can wait a few weeks we've been designing our own seat similar to the Recaro seat in the Z28 that we can make sit lower in the bottom...

I have about 2" from my head to headliner in my stock seat. If the 6LE seats are supposed to be shorter...I don't know what's going on.

It was so long ago that I had stock seats and when I first got the 6LE seats I dont remember which sat lower, but I do remember once I lowered the 6LE seat and made it fixed I was amazed at how low it actually was, so Im assuming the stockers and 6LEs sat similar.

I mean I have 2" with stock seats in my powered seat adjustment...I forget if my seats are "bottomed out" on their range of powered height adjustment.

This may be stupid, but does your headliner have raised sections over the passenger and driver seats? Or is it all "flat" surface? If you don't have the raised sections then that could eat up a good 1" easily. I don't know if they ever made these cars with a "flat" headliner though.

Our seats with our brackets sit SLIGHTLY lower than stock (they actually are lower BUT they have extra padding which raises your thighs up so end result is only slightly lower over all) and slide a lot further back and forward.

For those who got our seats and mounted to factory rails they sit higher (factory rails are designed to mount IN the seat but can only mount ON the aftermarket seats), annoyingly higher to me and I'm only 5'11, hence making the brackets.

All does depend on the person's proportions, as mentioned, if the height is in the legs, torso, etc...

Well I keep reading about "higher/lower than stock seats" but the stock seats are motorized so you can make the height vary by maybe 1". When you claim slightly higher than stock seats, do you mean when the stock seats are bottomed out?

^^Correct. Referring to comparing to stock with no motors (not all came motorized) or with motors bottomed out.
