Default Texas Autocross in a 2nd Gen TA

My second event for the year and on the NT05 tires and Double adjustable shocks front and rear. I have to learn to drive all over again. I'm still not sure where to set the air pressures on these tires. Morning session I ran at 32PSI front, 34PSI rear. Afternoon session I ran 30PSI front and 32PSI rear. My afternoon session were overall much faster, about 2 secs faster on a 60sec course, but I don't think that's attributable to only the tires pressure.

The video is from my last, and fastest run, 58.5 secs. Data for the run says my max g's were 1.25 and my max speed was 53,5mph. I did alright for a heavy street car.

I don't really know if it's equatable at all, but in my 4th gen on Hoosiers, I always run less in the rear. In fact my normal spread was 32 front and 26-27 rear sometimes, dependent on condition/track temps/course setup.

I've also found that biasing front end pressure over rear end pressure results in better runs. I'm also a fourth gen guy, and run 245 fronts at around 32 pounds and 295 rears at around 28 pounds (cold pressures).

Are you running lower pressure in the rear because you are getting more oversteer than you want? Or, asked another way - why are you running lower in the rear than front, what are the circumstances you want to change?

Oh, she's still tail happy in that configuration, but in a much more manageable and balanced way. I prefer cars set up to oversteer a bit.

I'm not tail happy at all, I'm running a higher pressure in the rear to help get a little rotation at the finish of the turn so I don't have to do it with the steering wheel. I would rather have a slight oversteer as well....

Given the weight I've put up on the nose, we're likely running similar front/rear weight bias. At a glimpse, it looks like you're sitting at around 58/42 F/R. What section width do you run? Do you run an offset with skinnier fronts than rears, or are all widths the same?

A fella who ran a similar platform as I do told me to try out higher pressure in the fronts than on the rears, and I like how the car feels with that setup. Doesn't push, but lets me whip the back out a bit when the situation dictates.

That about right on the weight bias., 3812 with full tank and without me.

I have 275/40/18 square on nitto NT05 rubber and 18 x 9.5 wheels. I just stiffened the rear up with some double adjustable shocks and put in about 3/4 of the full rebound. Next is to put more compression in, these runs had about 1/3 of scale. This was helping but the car is a long way from being tail happy, Ideally I could make the front traction go up. I don't know what else to do on the front though.

Try chalking the tires in a couple places, where the sidewall & tread meets to see how far you're rolling over on the sidewall. Should help to decide on tire pressure. 32 seems a little low on the front to me.

That run looked great! You can really move that big car around. You should buy some good tires though. BFG's Rival S or Bridgestone 71r. You might see a 2 second difference.
