Default My autocross/roadrace build 2001 Trans AM

im about to install my konis and im trying to make sense of the on car adjustment. All the pictures ive looked at show the koni sticker on the shock facing outward. If mine is oriented like that, it puts the adjustment window toward the shock tower.

Well, whatever you need to do to get the adjuster to face outward. I forget if you can just rotate the bottom half, or if the bottom mount is pre-angled in the bushing. Also, the spring might interfere a bit. I had to bend a long allen wrench into a Z shape to help me adjust it on-car.

Alignment window/shock rod can be spun independently of the lower mounting T-bar.

I just had mine apart for new upper mounts.

Im pretty sure my sticker is facing out and the little sweep window faces out to. As long as the sweep window faces out ur good. All u have to do is jack the car up some and u can get ur 2.5mm allen wrench in fhere

I would put the window 45* from facing out due to the first body coil of the spring being in your way.

Basically clock it however you want in order to get to the alignment window easiest.

So what's everyone using for the top shock mount? I order both Moog & KYB and both seem to be off.

picture #1 are the moog. You can see one of the studs pulled out and they are considerably taller than the factory mounts just like the KYB mounts.

Picture #2 are the KYB mounts. Quality is about the same as Moog except the mounting bolts. You can see the angle of the bolt preventing me from bolting it to the shock tower.

I just did Moog. I noticed there was some rubber inside the threads so I ran the bolt though it first before putting it in the car. Stud length was same as stock. even if they are slightly longer it doesn't matter.

Keep an eye on the diameter of there end coil and the OD of the mount piloting feature...My strano springs had shifted when in use and contacted the UCA nut/bolt at full droop.

Not took happy about that since the spring inner diameter/shape should be made better not to shift on the mount.

I used Moog when I was running a stock style mount. Had a stud pulled out as well but I just replaced it with a grade 8 bolt and nut from Fastenal

What kind of mount are you running now? Did you go to coilovers?

Stock fronts are already coilovers and I can't change spring location in the rear, so nothing changed in regards to that. Using an Afco front upper mount and custom lower now though, sphericals

So these are the new ones I ordered from Moog/KYB. They were suppose to replace the faulty one I had bought already. Does anyone else have any ideas?

I don't know how/why you are having issues. I bought Moog from RockAuto and had no problems.

If you are sick of dealing with buying/returning just do as mentioned above and remove the press in studs and use grade 8 Bolts/nuts instead.

Finally got my UMI LCA.

Here is a picture with the new LCA and new KONI/Strano setup installed.

I finally was able to press all the old bushing out and install all the new MOOG pieces.

What is everyone doing for the rear spring isolators? Remove them and do the heater hose mod? Or use the factory isolators?

I used the factory ones. If i wanted to lower it a bit more, I could always do the heater hose mod. But I don't think I need to with my wheels
