Default A4 ok on the track?

new to the road race/ autocross scene, and have a question on tracking my A4,

1. is it ok to run a A4 for track use? or should i look for a 6spd car?

2. is it a good ideal to run a stall converter to road race, currently looking at 3600 or would smaller better or keep it stock?

3. am i crazy for thinking that i can use a A4 for track days?

just planning for the future in case i would like to attend an event or two here in chicago.

I run a 01 Z with an auto. I have run several SCCA autocross, SCCA track night America, Good Guys Autocross, And Optima events over the past 3 years. I have an A4 with 3.73 factory stall with Trans cooler. I see no problem on doing this. I actually think it is an advantage on the autocross with an auto. You don't have to worry about shifting. On the road course I am mostly in 3rd most of the time. I did go in my computer and change shift points so it would not down shift as easy. I would not run a bigger stall unless you get a triple disk. I run my converter locked on the track. This is why you need a triple disk. Also the bigger stall will build a lot more heat when unlocked. I am still able to get engine breaking since I run the convert locked. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Sure they can be used, but I would prefer a manual car for anything race oriented (drag racing is the exception).

You shouldn't ever need to shift a T56 on an autocross course either aside from the initial 1-2
