250cc Superkarts at Mid Ohio (Vid Inside)
So its not car related
I race laydown karts (110ish mph), and just purchased a Honda powered CR250cc Superkart (reaching 122mph on the back straight) with a top speed of 140mph at Daytona Speedway... wind drag is what holds it back from going faster.....its a 5 speed and is set up with paddle shifter and clutch foot operated, setup like a car is....
this past weekend was my first time in a superkart and first time shifting... ive been racing karts for 25yrs all my previously owned karts have been non shifters.... where theres just one gear on the engine crank and one bolted to the axle clutch... which are changed easily for the different tracks we race on...
anyway on to the video... Hope you enjoy a different and very exciting form of racing...
whole video... i retired early due to a bolt loosing up on the shifter linkage and unable to shift.... was running in 3rd out of 20 and catching the leaders...
single lap video...

Brandon,
Thanks for the videos! Karting is a relatively inexpensive way to run major venues like Mid Ohio, Daytona, et al. That's WKA country! Non karters don't realize how fast karts really are.
I ran roadrace karts for 25 years, 15 of those in shifters. Lots of great memories! My last win was at California Speedway. Retired in 2002.
Have fun,
Andy1
