Just got back from ...
...Watkins Glen.
Spend two days at the track, along with Thom (from NH) and Jesse (01Z28). We were the first ones in on Monday and the last to leave on Tuesday.
We put about 200 miles of hi-speed driving, each, over the both days. It took one whole session, for me, to just get over the WOW factor of being there, on the full 3.5 mile course, driving at speed upwards to 125 on the back straight.
Here's the LINK to some of the pictures, I'll post somemore in a day or two.

Re: Just got back from ...
The NASCAR circuit is shorter because there just isn't enough room down thru 'the boot'.
After 'the Ninety' (turn 1) you head downhill towards turn 2 and 'the esses'. This takes you back up thru turns 3,4 and 5 where you end up on the back straight headed for 'the bus stop'. Out of that, you're going downhill thru 'the carousel' and headed down towards 'the boot'.
The 'toe' is the lowest part of the track. You climb almost 100' in elevation coming up towards the 'heel' and once you get thru there and two more lefthanders, you turn right and you're back on the front straight. A full 3.5 miles of fast.
My wife timed me (with a wristwatch) at 2:21 on one of the later in the day laps. IMO not bad for a basicly stock SS with Hawk pads and Hoosier tires.

Damn that's awesome. I really wanted to go but i'm having some car issues right now. I installed a B1 cam about a month ago and now have a bad lifter. So I figured why not get some heads too. They should be here this week and getting them installed next week. The next event you guys go to i'm in.

Re: Just got back from ...
the next event is at Summit Point Raceway on June 22nd & 23rd.
Go to the Virginia Region N.A.S.A. site for info and the registration. It will fill up fast.
Jesse and I will both be there, so if you can make it, look us up. This time I will have the '87 T/A.

Hey Silver99Z, I did get a picture, but I can only put up 36 pictures in an album at a time. Check it out now, though the picture got turned around at the developer.
When I first saw the Triumph pull in, I was 'blue' with envy, myself.

Re: Just got back from ...
rain can be good.
I've run in the rain before and it is some of the best educational time I've had. Where else can you practice the limits of 'adhesion' on a wet surface in a controlled environment.
Glad you had a good time. My next trip up will probably be for the SCCA National race held up there in July. I crew for Tiger Racing and they'll have two cars running (T1 & A/S) and two more that they maintain for others in T2.
