You could always box the filter and cut the hood. This has been dint on race cars (see WRC Ford Focus as a great example) for years. Bit extreme though! ;)

Yeah the road 991s turbos, GT2, etc use VNT urbos but I have never seen them race esp at Le Mans! The GT3RSRs are all NA motors.

Anyway definitely NO VNT/VGT in top flight racing! :)
