Someone told me this is an easy fix. Maybe a pin popped out or something. It's the area behind the wheel under the badge.

 

Its from jacking your car. There is a bracket which your fender connects underneath your car. (You can actually see it in your pictures) You bent it out somehow, most likely while getting tires changed or something like that. Simple fix is get a pair of pliers and bend it back in.

 

2 by 4 and a big hammer does wonders too...same idea as bending it except you hit it to bend it....

 

The pinch weld is bent. Anytime you go anywhere that will need to jack your up or have it on a lift, watch them and tell them to use the frame not the pinch welds.

The easiest way to fix that is to remove the two screws, bend the metal back into place slowly, push the plastic to the metal to see if it is flush. Once it is flush put the 2 screws back in.

So the bracket needs to be moved from pointing down to being horizontal? Thanks for the help, I know they definately did it when the changed my wheels out.

 

No, the mount tab needs to be vertical, pointing down.

This tab is supposed to be in the vertical/down position.

Typically, when you put it on the lift here, it will get bent 'up', or into a horizontal position bent out, causing the bottom of the fender to stick out further.

 

Has anyone tried cutting off the tab from the fender then bending the metal tab up unside the fender and either riviting the fender to it or bolting it? I was thinking about doing something like that to eliminate the problem.

 

or you could just not lift the car up on that tab...

nice, my car has the same exact thing. was like it when i bought it. nice to know its a quick fix!!

 

Gotta be careful when re-straightening that bracket though because the bottom plastic of the fender can easily break off of that bracket.

I've been reading about this happeneing since I bought my Z. I'm a nut in a service station. I get down on the ground and show them exactly where to lift. One time I showed the guy and then he almost lifted it in the wrong spot anyway!

You were lucky yours only bent. As OctaneZ28 says, many people get their fenders broken at the bottom due to lifting the wrong way and that will cost ya new fenders and a trip to the paint shop.

I was on a lunch break the other day and came back to hear some lady bitchin' about her fenders being like that. I fixed it with some channel locks and she was really happy. I tell ya though, I can't leave them kids alone for a minute.

 

That is why you unbolt the fender from the bracket first, as mentioned above.
I did the same thing the first time I jacked up my car. I thought I was the only idiot who had ever done that -lol From all the replies here apparently this is pretty common.

 

Is this possibly the same for a third gen as well?
