Default Painted my FAST 90 intake, Hugger Orange.....

After trying to get someone to do it, and hearing how much it would cost to get it done, I bit the bullet and did this myself. I read as much as I could on how to do it, I tried to get LawmanSS to do it, he didn't want to j/k bro. And I got some advice from a local painter and went to it.

First off, I had to get the HO paint mixed at a local paint store, and then put into a spray can since I don't have air tools for that. That alone was $55 for a HALF PINT!! Damn Hugger is expensive

Anyways, I sanded the FAST and WILSON off, hated that crap, then sanded as much as I could get to with paper smooth, didn't get it near as smooth as I wanted, and it was tough painting in the little spots, but it came out ok I think, I would have like it better, but eh, whatever, it's going under the hood I taped off the little side posts where the air hoses go to behind the TB not thinking if it would hurt to be painted, I regret that bigtime! I'm happy that I did it myself and am semi-proud of it haha. Anyways, here's the pics, hard to get it right in the light.....

I think that looks great man, but its too bad you can't get one without the fuel rail crossover "dip" in it, it stands out like a sore thumb if you're using aftermarket rails IMO.

Good job on it, Shawn

Thanks Shawn, I know what you mean with the hump for the rails, I could have filled it in, etc, but F that, it should be almost under the cowl at that point and may not be too bad. Too much work involved for me to worry about that

I think it looks really sharp, you are cutting yourself short by being semi happy with it IMO.

Thanks guys! It was a ton of work to smooth, primer, sand, primer, sand, paint, paint paint, clear, clear, clear, but it came out better than I thought it would since I did it

That is a fuel pressure gauge, not sure if it's from Nasty, I bought the rails used and it came with them. I REALLY want to keep it on there but I think it will have to come off since I will have a fuel pressure gauge in my car and I need that spot to tap off the rail. If there is a y-splitter or something I can get to use I will, but for now I think it's coming off.

As for the pics of the engine bay, nothing special right now, the old block is sitting in there and I will be installing the 402 hopefully this coming week, then I will snap some new pics of the engine bay

...better you than me! I barely had the patience to do my own!

It looks awesome...you did a fine job, grasshopper!! Love the Hugger Orange! Just be careful...Boomhauer (Brandon) is probably going to yell at you for not painting the base, too...he bitched me out for it!

2000blackta: That looks to me like the f/p gauge that Nate (Nasty) supplies with his kit...

Ummm.... for the most part paint is paint. They just have to mix different amounts of certain colors and produce certain hues.

Some colors are more expensive (specialty colors like chrome, chromalusion, metal flake, etc...) and OBVIOUSLY better BRANDS are more expensive but whoever is charging you more for "Hugger Orange" is breaking it off in you...

Your intake looks AWESOME man! Very shiny for a rattle can as well!!!
