Default PT76 VS PT88 Side by side comparison pictures

I had always wanted to see a direct compariston of a PT76 vs a PT88 physically but had a hard time finding one. I purchaced a PT88 for the 2009 Season and thought I would share the side by side pics.

The PT88 is 1.25" Longer then the PT76 and the real magic for my excessive back pressure will happen on the turbine side. The turbine wheel is close to a half inch larger

Enjoy!

Let me know how you like the PT88. I will be getting one here shortly and am second guessing between this and a GT47-88

What is the difference between the two? As far as I know they are the same internally, but have different housings. I am going to be nowhere near maxing out the PT88 so wouldn't the smaller PT88 spool up quicker than the GT47-88?

A GT47 and PT88 share nothing. Both exhaust wheel and compressor wheel are different. GT47's use the 6 blade comp wheel, PT88's use the older 7 blade TV wheel.

You can get them with T4 flange as well, and also a T4 mid-frame version as well.

What's the advantage of the GT47-88 over the PT88? Is there really that much hp to be gained?

PT88 is rated to 1250. GT47-88 is rated to 1450 I believe. Thats at the wheels.

For the price I think I will stick with the PT88. 1250 is good for my LT1 383 build. Not to many LT1s that run at my track and only like one turbo car.

I think we're talking about different turbos. The T4 flanged PT88 is rated to 1250 and is the biggest T4 turbo you can get. I have never heard of the PT88-47, but it might be rated higher due to it being a T6.

The PT88 is the TV wheels capable of 1250 as you mentioned.
The PT 88-47 is a GT4718 CHRA stuffed in a T4 package, capable of 1400. Its a bad *****.. Easy way to tell the old PT88 has 7 compressor blades Like mine, the PT8847 has 6 Compressor blades and it's pissed off right outta the box.

If you are limited on room, ill get the pt8847 over the gt4788, size wise is a lot smaller unit and it will make plenty power on a small ci motor, i was able to tucked mine right where the alternator goes.
