Default oil pressure

So my car sat up for about 2 months not running. Got the opti changed and now the oil pressure reads about 10-14 psi when its warm idle when it was around 20. Whats up with that?

I would get a mechanical gauge to check if for sure. It could just be a bad sending unit

yea sometimes a new opti's tight clearances put more load on the camshaft and that causes the oil pump to turn more slowly. i put a 10% overdriven cam gear on it to give it more speed.

I had that problem when I put too much green loctite in my opti. It seeped into the bearings and practically seized the damn thing up.

did you change the oil?

maybe a lighter weight?

also if opti failed causing the car to not run and it was cranked and trying to start you could have fuel in the oil which would thin it and could cause lower pressure

mechanical gauge as mentioned by others is a good route as well

good luck

I changed the oil about maybe a month before the opti went out so about 800-1000 miles ago at most. Will i be able to smell gas through the valve cover hole and if that happened will changing the oil fix it.
