Default Something different...

With a standard firebird or formula spoiler has anyone tried painting that dividing line from the top and bottom portions black? or even going from the dividng line to the base in black to give it more of a "raised" look?
I'm thinking it may help to make the spoiler lip itself look a bit larger and help balance the rear a bit, what do you guys think?

I really am not after that dramatic of a raised look, the t/a hatch is a bit overpowering on a formula IMO. I want just a slight affect to proportion things a bit better... t/a = too much, standard = too little. For me at least... =/

I don't understand what you mean. If you explain further, maybe I can photoshop something.

I believe he is referring to where the spoiler is molded together, talking from where it's put together at and painting it black to the base of the spoiler. OP I could be wrong but that's what I made of it.

That's it, sorry it was very clear in my head lol. This or just a 1/4 to 1/2" strip along that line instead of going all the way down.
Give it a shot sdm!

I'm still not understanding. Care to do a quick MSPaint work up of what you're envisioning. I can then do a PS rendering too.

I'm going to give it a shot in a minute.. but heres the pic that put the idea in my head, something that "looks" like this, but not just in this exact lighting with specific exposure limitations from a camera
See how it looks black down to where it starts to fade back out to the base? like that.. I cant decide if it would be better done all the way down to the edge though instead of just to the base of the spoiler mold itself (where the silver pearl is reflecting in the picture above the exact point where the curve starts going back "out")

Oh man that'll be tough with your pics because there's no light shining under the wing in any of them. They practically already look black! The pic with your hatch opened (#63) would've been the perfect angle/lighting to try though lol.

it's going to look about as bad as the guy who did the same thing with his SS Spoiler "painted the underside black". I say leave the cars paint alone (no decals, no black accent paint) and get some rims and a drop. Less is always more but that's my 2 cents.

Edit: It looks okay on this TA but I still like stock better.

I'm not sure what I think about it. It looks good, but not sure it's worth the effort. That red TA posted above looks hawt though. Almost makes me want to paint the underside of my TA hatch.

Time to do some more photoshopping!

...IMO It goes with nothing else on the car. No black wheels, sail panel, mirrors, hood, etc. UR tail lights are tinted but still, nothing is black. If some of those things listed were matching in color, then it would look a ton better but I still think its a silly idea.

Thanks guys, i do like the look it gives, and it already looks that way in most of the pics of the car anyways lol. Thanks to superbat I see something I missed, if I go with it, ill extend the black out under the sails until the lip completely diminishes... never noticed it extends that far before X_X

Fbodyonly, that's the eventual plan for the car, black wheels 2" drop, and black emblem overlays like my camaro was sort of. But all of those things cost money that I don't have right now, black paint is everywhere at my grandfathers shop haha.

Does anyone know of a paint that can be washed off ala temporary tattoo? Lol

Thanks superbat! Can you try one just to that midrif where it bends out? I know it'll be very hard towards the front, but it doesn't have to be perfect

Couple of things-
It was difficult to extend the line further than the end of the hatch because there's no longer a definite dividing line to go off of. Possible, just gotta be careful.
Temporary paint? Ehh... you could try a vinyl decal. If you like it, leave it, if not, peel it off.
Also, dunno if you saw my thread regarding my mini-ceta...

^there's one of my postings...couldn't find the link for the one on here.
If you don't do any prep work to the paint underneath nor clear it, you should be able to peel the top layer paint off. Wont be easy nor a quick job to remove, but it's possible.
I'll try another chop sometime later today for you.
