Default Just ordered a new custom carb cam.

I just ordered a new cam for my set up. It is 226/234 .598"/.612" with 110 LSA and a 109 ICL. My current cam is 222/224 .566"/.568" with 112 LSA and a 110 ICL. The cam is a product of asking a lot of LS vendors, cam makers and simulation on Dyno Sim. The choice parameters were maximum HP under the curve for my particular engine in the 3000 to 6000 RPM range with shift point at around 6500 and a nice hot rod idle. I look forward to testing it out when it arrives.

Awesome man! I look forward to seeing your results! I can't wait to install and test my new cam. Your new cam numbers are similar to mine, but just a bit smaller, which will be great for your gear/convertor combo. You're increasing your in/ex duration by a similar amount as I am, and tigtening up to the same LSA/ICL as my new cam as well. My current cam is 228/230-114+2. I'm going to a 231/239-110+1. So I'm increasing my int dur by 3 and exh by 9; you're increasing your int dur by 4 and exh by 10. Again....can't wait to see your results.

Sounds like a great cam that would work well in L92 applications also.

- What is the advertised duration on that new cam? .006

- Do you have the .200 numbers?

It will be fun to read about your results with this new cam.

Looking forward to the results.
8 degree split worked great on my L92 combo.
would think 106 ICL would help get the large port moving sooner, building slow speed torque.
Probably a tradeoff with better upper RPM HP.

If I were to do it over again, I would go with the L92 set up. I don't know how the ports size of these ported 243s compare to L92s.

Speed,

Did you consider a tighter LSA? I don't have any dyno sim programs, but would be curious as to how something around 104° to 106° would work. Katech sold a bunch of used cams on E-Bay a couple years ago that were really tight, kinda wished I'd have tried one...

Lunati has a line of LS "carb" cams that are 108 LSA with a 108 ICL. I considered on of those but they are all .650" and that was more aggressive of a lobe than I wanted. Their 227/231 on 108 looked really good on the dyno Sim program. Almost identical power numbers to the one EPS is grinding for me now.

I'm running a very similar ground EPS cam in my 5.3, 226/234 - .598" / .601" with 108 LSA & 105 ICL

It's nasty dude, you'll love it

Nice I was hopping to go with a very similar cam. Geoff spec'd something very similar for my ly6 with L92 heads, but a little milder on the intake.

222/234degrees @ .050" lift with .597 / .612 lift LSA 111 +4 (107 ICL).

Let me know how your cam runs. My project is a little delayed and going slow right now.

It has arrived. It is a shame I can't just walk right out of my office and go install it right now!

I found an hour and a half tonight. I got it down to where I just have to pull the balancer and the timing cover. I am not sure when I will have time to get back after it. Perhaps an hour tomorrow night or sunday night.
