How does your track usually do on surface prep? If they're on top of their game you may be suprised despite the cold temps. The pic in my sig was taken on a day early this spring (March) which had a high of 55 degrees. Sure....the cool weather doesn't 'help' with track conditions, but if they do a good prep job and your tires/suspension are up to the task, you may be suprised.

Having said all that, I'm going this Friday and I may be eating my words. I'm gonna be trying to hook a 150 shot off the transbrake and our forecasted high is gonna be 54. Could be dicey.....

Saturday is usually pretty good.... watched them spray from start to finish lines, both lanes, and more than 1 pass, before dragging it.
Now, as for my set-up....been hit and miss, but I'm getting better.....slowly LOL. I just don't get to the track enough to be that good

I resemble that last statement ! Im going to pass on tonight. I just don't see my car hooking in the cold. Im going to call the track and verify if they are having test and tune next Saturday, during the day. My car is a completely different animal than it was last time out. The combination of a solid trans/converter setup and fixing the serious brake drag issue I had, makes the car just blow the NTO5rs off from a roll on the street.
Good luck ,Doug and Im sure you will let us know how it goes.

15-20mph gusts out of the NW...going to see if it calms down over nite....Calling for almost 60*
Playing by ear right now....don't like 120+mph and crosswinds

Tailwind would be nice though LOL

1st pass 11.80 @ 113....wtf ???
add 2* timing across the board....36* from 1000-8000rpm flat lined....change shift point from 7000 to 6500.
1.555 60' 11.33 @ 117.71....now we're getting somewhere
Change shifts to 6800 and timing is now 38* flat lined....11.327 @ 116.79 with a best ever 1.546 60' happier, but feels like it's nosing over at top end of shift rpms.
Changed to 6600 shift and at half track get hit by a wind gust...butt hole pucked and I got out of it
Ended my day, and went home. I think I'm going to drop the timing to 37* for next time out.
Feels good lifting the tires again
More work to do.

She is getting out quick now. That is a lot of timing for an LS motor. That could be hurting your mph.

picked up over 2mph in the 660' and over 4mph in the 1320' going up 2* more (36*)
lost .3 in the 660' and just under 1mph in the 1320' at 38* (+2* more)
Going to put it at 37* for next time.
Still need to tune carb also....there may be a few more tenths ?

DA was around 33'

That's getting it out of the hole! The MPH sure picked up with the timing change. Congrats on getting ever closer to your goal. It will come with more tuning, I think.

based on those results, I'd have 38* in it up to just below torque peak (maybe 5000) and then down to 36* through top rpm.
torque peak will fall at about 52-5400
just my opinion
Doug have you verified the timing in the msd with alight and mark on the balancer?

Interesting.....It has never even crossed my mind to check the MSDs oil . I just assumed if it said it , it must be true. Have you ever checked one that was off? Now you've given me something else to question about these money pits.
Doug, let us know what you come up with.
