4th gengen Camaro shot in Chevy's 2016 Garnet Red Metallic
Almost finished! Somebodies dang dog chewed on the front and rear bumper and some point in its existence, so body work took a bit.
However, after looking at most versions of modern dark or cherry red, I decided to stay bow tie and go with the garnet. Thought about the dark red you see a lot on new jeeps though!
Anyway, here's the journey from stock to what I got.
Rim upgrade
295/45R18's in the rear. 245/55's in the front. Got the front pair for $5 (no typo) with 95% Tread.

Looks similar to the medium patriot red metallic I had on my old 1994 Z-28. I like it.

It is that. From what I understand, the factory color mine had of Monterey maroon metallic was a continuation or variation of MPR. I'm hoping the Garnet shows up more of a red than maroon...'cause I hate maroon. My taste doesn't have to make sense does it?

My car was monterey maroon metallic as well. This is being done as mostly a favor and I'm only paying for materials so I didn't have him paint the jams. I'm hoping that it's not too noticeable before I do it myself. We went with the previous generation of PPG to save on cost.
Is that a corvette color? I looked at mostly tricoats like that. I think Lexus has a red tricoat that is similar to these colors that got me hooked. That's a beautiful color and looks pretty identical to mine. Nice shootin' Tex.

Dirty but 99% done
Gonna clean her up and take her for a photo shoot with proper quality pictures. Blacked out rims also bring the color out I think, from what I've seen.

That's on the list. I might just spring for aftermarket ones. This color does go well with black accents, that's for sure. Looking at all the camaro6's with this color, the ones with black rims look the best.

Paint looks great! What profile tire you running? Tires look taller than normal.

Just reasons that probably won't make sense. I don't like the look of low profile tires. I know there's probably a happy medium but I'm not interested in lowering the car but still like the look of a full wheel well. I don't race and the tall tire makes for a nice ride.
Honestly my first inclination was to go with a drag set up but didn't want to go with 15" rims. Got some 18"s on a good deal and went from there.
On the rear I was constrained by the 11" rim as far as width and 315's are pricey. 295 was as skinny as I was comfortable with but still wanted a taller "drag" look. The front tires I got on a steal ($5) and they match the rears in sidewall height.
So my goal was a drag look working with 18" rims...did I meet that? Probably not but I like the looks and it rides nice and smooth.
There's probably 100 reasons to go another way, any other way, but I'm satisfied. Pot holes? no problem. Just might throw on a brushguard and roof rack!
(these are the tires that came with the rim...nasty but I drove em to the nubs...I'm kind of a cheap guy. I got this ride for 3k and have only put around 1k into it. Maybe when public servants get paid more, I'll spend more!)

Had me a bit of a photo shoot in St. George. Just cell phone pictures.
This shows the best color. It's a see it in person kinda thing. Looks pretty maroon in dark pictures but not in person.
Didn't look maroon to me but here it is...maroon.
