Dorman TRUCK intake..any results?
After looking at upgrading my nbs truck intake to a nnbs/tbss intake manifold, I noticed the larger looking Dorman intake that is VERY open inside unlike the factory truck intakes. I have searched but found no results of any dyno or track times just some halfway there info from a truck forum.
Are there any new results as these things go for $300 and look almost like a fast lsxRT.
Thanks
Dorman is on the right.

This could be a wicked new thing. By looking at it, it just seems like it has to be amazing at high rpm. Maybe not so much at 3500 rpm but I think one of those truck forum reviews said it pulled decent to 6500..that could obviously be cam related but either way some ecu tuned results need to happen for this thing to get respect. It does have a 78 mm gen 3 tb opening but it seems so much more open in there.

It definitely looks like it shares a lot of characteristics with the fast. Only thing that stands out as possibly a negative, would be the small opening.

I've made 379 rwhp so far on my cam only lq4 with the original stock truck intake that's a step down from a tbss/nnbs so I'll see what kind of gold we can uncover with this giant breadbox ☺
It does look like some minor runner porting is needed but realistically that doesn't take long on plastic intakes. To get the most from it I'll definitely get the runners looking proper sized. Looks like it's just a matter of widening the ports on one side of every port.

So you may lose some torque and hp below 4500 rpm but would gain from basically 4500 rpm +.

I actually just purchased one today from summit. Found it for $179.95 on ebay and had them price match it. Then I got $50 using my summit credit card.
I'm excited to see it in person. I have 2 OE truck intakes, 150k on my original and got a brand new OE for $70 to replace it. BUt I HATE how it looks but the original intake was solid and performed flawlessly with my supercharged 5.3 with about 12psi. I know the LS6 version of the dorman blew up around 14-15psi. but with my new custom cam and ported heads/TB im hoping to actually decrease boost to 10-11psi but go from 550hp - 650-670hp.
Im pulling the motor to make lots of upgrades and going to make it look nice too. The OE intake is a beast but I want it to look good. If I blow the dorman up i'll swap the new OE on as I know it will work.
I'm going to clean up the intake ports on the dorman and I'm going to run my stock ported 78 3 bolt TB. my only real worry besides it blowing up is the height. Mine barely clears my hood as of now.

If this is true I may consider it for my yukon. Ive steered away from the tbss intake because I didnt feel like hassling with the tb, rail, and injector differences.

Ive seen pics of it installed on stock setups. Everything transfers over. The only negative I see with the Dorman is that they dont use brass inserts on the fuel rail bolts and the TB linkage bracket and other bolt holes like the purge and EGR. I loved that the factory intakes do as it adds a level of quality and strength. I can't imagine the plastic lasting that long if you keep taking in and out screws. Also the meat isnt enough to put in your own inserts... if they were available.
I do like that they move the MAP sensor to the back tho.

Mine should be here tmrw and I'll post some pics and a quick review. I'll transfer over the throttle bracket etc. From the pics it looks like they made some updates, intake bolts look different on the driver side in this pic... almost like studs.
I also think these intakes are made in the USA.
