99TA - 416 build - Stolen, damaged and getting repaired
We have the 93 with 10% ethanol.
My RS has 11.3 no issues my carb'd vette has 10.85 and is OK as long as the temp outside is under 100. Both on 93.
Figured 11.5 to 11.7 was leaving just a little safety margin
I was impressed by the build myself. Our the box AFR 230s, 247/251 duration can, ARH 1 7/8 inch headers,12.1 compression, home built t56, home ported fast 102mm, car goes 10.6 @ 130 mph on motor in a trans am with 4.57 gears in a 9 inch.
Anyway more compression you run you can run a bigger cam and get away with it.
Talked with RPM Transmission today regarding the McCloud Twin Disc Clutch, it will be an RXT not an RST. RPM said at this power level RXT was the better choice. Jeremy was one step a head

Speaking of home porting intakes, what is the Rick Crawford/GPi "Radius Rod Mod" for LS3 intakes?
https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...d-rockers.html

The "Rod Mod" looks pretty interesting, I will have to read up on that. If I can find proof it works that may sway this build to LS3 since that seems to be an excellent intake.

Yes, I know the motor is a 58x. My first question to ERL was can you change the reluctor wheel if so I will buy it. ERL if they hadn't closed the shop we could discuss changing the wheels. I told him the 58x took me out of the market. We discussed other details briefly and the call ended. Two seconds later ERL called back asking if I would consider the LPE box.
I read up on the LPE converter box and discussed it with LPE and several other vendors. Apparently, the first version worked fairly well and LPE has improved it since introduction. The key issue for the newest ones is to be sure and mount them away from heat sources under the hood.
Most importantly I discussed the LPE box & ERL motor with Norris Motorsports my installer.
Thanks for asking as this was some of the pre-thread back story that I hadn't included.
While there I had a chance to see a Magnum T56 in action and even shift it a few times. I was flabbergasted at how smooth, how short and now precise the shifts are! Even with a stand height Pro 5.0 the throws are like half of my 99TA's stock t56 with the same shifter!
Bruce told me if your upgrading your T56, the Mangum is what you want whether you buy from me or Jeremy.
I think Bruce is right the Magnum is choice. I definitely would have bought the Magnum on the spot at Hawk's if I hadn't ordered a RPM level 5 T56.
Ramble coming you may want to skip the next couple of paragraphs...
At the risk of sounding like a total Jack *** my 99TA was the cherry pick of the ~35 brand new 98 and 99 LS1 f-body's I test drive over six months between August 98 and February of 99. It's quite and rattle free other than the passenger seat belt and passenger cup holder on occasion. To me it always shifted cleaner and had the clutch engaged better. Other people have commented on driving the TA the clutch hydraulics are perfect and asked what clutch is in the car and when was it replaced. The look on their face is priceless when I say the original stock clutch, this car was my cherry pick out the other 35 I test flogged. I've also been told, at 155,000+ miles the TA drives, rides, runs better and is smoother than other LS1 f-body's with less than 50,000 miles - by the owners of the low mile cars.
I realized it's all about the TA being fun to drive and an excellent driver.
Thinking about all of that I, made a decision on the ride back from Hawk's.
Every drive with the TA, I will interact with the shifter and transmission.
New headers, cathedral heads, LS3 heads, new FAST intake, new cam - all be damned they can wait there turn.
Called RPM Transmission which is definitely one of my favorite vendors along with Mike Norris Motorsports, Hawk's Motorsports and The WS6 STORE. Jeremy gave me an update the carbon fiber drive shaft had just arrived and RXT clutch. Work was starting on the level 5 T56 and we should be able to schedule install in a couple of weeks.
I dropped the bomb and ask what it would cost to upgrade to the Magnum T56. Jeremy told me, I mulled it over for two seconds and said let's do it. Bruce should probably get a commission on that sale
Hawk's restored my 91 RS and will do an LS swap for the 91 convertible in a year or so after the 99TA's completed.Luckily RPM Transmission had just gotten in a shipment of Magnums and the TA should get the upgrade end of next week or early the week after!
RPM Transmission A+
Would these things work for a low lash solid roller?
Yearly checks aren't an issue or every 10,000 miles - I can live with that.

Just need to do check and spring replacement 12-15 K miles/Yearly
Depending on how aggressive ramps & lifts are.
Big day for the 99TA today, at RPM Transmission getting a new Magnum transmission, McCloud RXT Twin Disc Clutch with supporting items and a carbon fiber drive shaft.
There is some sort of bad pun about a Magnum, Feeling Lucky and this Making my day in there somewhere but I'm two cups of coffee short of figuring it out.
The stock pilot bearing / bushing was trashed.
It appears to be the source of the vibrations and random noise noted earlier in the thread. It
