I'm having a major issue with my TB. Yesterday, got the car out of the garage and driving out of my neighborhood, it did fine. After getting onto the two lane street, every time I'd give it throttle, the car did nothing. I'd have to really hammer down on the gas peddle to get the car to move at all. I immediately turned the car around and luckily made it back home. I removed the lid and would manually give the car throttle, and the TB blade isn't coming open all of the time. I would manually give it throttle and I'd say that at least half the time, the TB blade stays pretty much closed. Has anyone experienced this? How can I fix it? The TB is the WARR Performance 92mm unit.

I should add that I had someone get in the vehicle and press on the gas pedal. Again, about half the time, just giving the car partial throttle, the blade was not opening. It did this to me the last time I had the car out, but it didn't do it until I was on my way home. The throttle linkage is good and tight, so that's not the issue.

Is the blade getting hung up on the bore of the throttle body? I accidentally adjusted my idle screw to far back and the blade would hang up and require quite a bit of pedal pressure to unstick in my 1500 truck. Same thong happened on a friend's 3.4 firebird when he got it.

That sounds like a bad throttle cable. Is there any resistance at the pedal?

Yes, I think that's what it is. I've messed a lot with the idle screw, so that could be the issue. I've since adjusted the idle screw to where the TB blade seems to be engaging properly, but the car still needs to be tuned. I have not had a chance to get a touch up tune since I installed the FAST intake and TB.

No resistance at the pedal. The pedal engagement feels just like it has since I've owned the car. The throttle cable is tight and nothing seems off.

It sounds to me as if where the throttle lever attaches to the throttle shaft has come loose. Watch this area when manually opening the throttle to see if the lever moves and not the shaft.

After reading this again are you saying that you can’t get the throttle lever to move or that it moves and the blade doesn’t?

Throttle lever moves, but blade doesn't. Again, doesn't do it all the time. I talked with Jason at WARR Performance, and he thinks it's the set screw on the back edge of the throttle lever. He said it sounds like it's not tight. I'm going to tighten it tonight and see if that fixes it.

So the throttle lever has a set screw that holds it to the throttle shaft? If that is the case tightening that screw should fix you up. A pic of where the throttle lever attaches to the shaft would go a long ways. IICC on a stock TB the lever is spot welded to the shaft.

The set screw was lose to say the least. It was so lose that it was about to fall out. Tightening it fixed the issue.
