Default Rear panel repair.

As everyone knows, the rear panel mounting is made out of silly putty.

If you touch the doggone things the plastic falls apart.

Here are pics I took of my repair.

I used a CCI 22LR box to duplicate what fell apart and it was very close from the get go. Just had to dremel off a couple of ridges inside the box.

Sandpaper the surfaces to give the glue something to grab on.

J&B weld to glue it all together.

Pretty clever fix. When I took my sail panels off once I busted one.. the other I learned my lesson and took it off correctly but found a previous owner had busted it also and glued a small washer in place.

I prefer this method. Metal > Plastic, but I see that wasn't an option with the way Heavy's broke.

I bet there was a big cardboard box full of broken ones next to the assembly line.

Especially if the conveyor belt was moving at 100mph with the rear windows down.

Are those the interior sail/c-pillar panels? What year? My '05's were white plastic, but they fell apart just the same. I wound up plastic welding them.

I think they turn white when all the plasticizer out-gasses.

These are on my 05.
