Motor mount clamshells
Ok so I'm good on getting to the motor mounts. I'm just wondering how much of pain is it to open up the stock clamshells and put polys in. I'm going to have the engine out completely and I don't want a big hang up to be drilling out and putting the poly mounts in the shells. Is it really just 4 rivets open POOF bolt closed

Yes it really is. When you bolt them back together, make sure you know which way is inboard and outboard or the bolts will interfere with the block

my advice....the big rivets ( 2 of em )....drill a small hole thru each rivet....then drill a bigger hole....then use a step bit ...on the non riveted holes go straight to the step bit and take it out to 3/8 on all 3 holes.....you need to get all the holes enlarged to 3/8 for the bolts....I use 5 3/8 grade 8 bolts....3/4 long with washer and crimp locknut .....3 on the rivet side...2 on the other side ..use waterproof grease on the poly mounts to help when squeezing the metal clams together ..I am using prothane mounts ( pic not of final product )

It is pretty straight forward. There will be 5 areas on each shell to drill out. Things I would recommend having handy:
1) torch to heat up the shells after you have gotten the rivets out. The stock rubber will stick to the shells halves so you may need a pry bar as well.
2) drill with wire wheel attachment. There likely will be rubber left stuck to the inner of the shells even after using heat.
3) rubber mallet to beat the new polys into the humped side of the shell.
Good luck, it can be a bit time consuming but it's easy.
