This is the lowest point my car, at the flange aft of the driver's side cat. Ride height is 26.5" upfront, 27.25" outback (the car has an intentional rake).

Ok I'm shooting for just over 2.25" then lol. Do you do the heater hose mod? Sharp/clean car !

No I have a different rear suspension. It can be adjusted up and down like you would do with coil overs.

You'd have to raise your car up, or use oval pipe under the drivers side or both.

Yes, where is this arbitrary 'can worth of clearance' measurement originating? I've had less than 3" of exhaust clearance for almost 2 decades on this car. I don't measure ride height at the fender because of stacked tolerances.

It came from numerous people in various threads in the suspension section of this site that I've read over the years. With 3 inches I'm able to get into my driveway at an angle. Anything less than 3 and I scrape. It's very rare that someone who is lowered is fitting a pop can under their exhaust.

And just remember whatever clearance you have will be less with you in the car. So depending on the number of people in the car and the total weight, your 3" might be more like 2.5" or whatever

Kind of an old thread, but I can’t even get a can laying on its side under the lowest point of my exhaust, which is somewhere along the driver’s side of the y-pipe.

This thread caught my interest, and as I had a freshly emptied beer can handy I performed the test. Lying on its side, I could barely get it under the lowest point on the driver's side.

I've been daily driving it this way for 12+ years. Speed bumps can be tough, but other than that, no issues.

I took some measurements last week and it looks like I've got just over 2" of clearance. I've got about 26" from the ground to the center of the front fender wells, both sides, and about 26.5" on both sides in the rear. I'm the original owner of my car and it's still on the factory 16" wheels and whatever tire size would have come from the factory. I do plan to change wheels & tires at some point, but really have no idea what direction I'll be taking. I don't know whether most people try to keep the OEM circumference when they go to larger wheels, but I guess it's possible I'll get a bit more clearance when I change wheels & tires.
